Summary: Dig It
Review: Dig It
Book: Holes
Author: Louis Sachar
Number of pages: 233
Publisher: Scholastic Inc.
ISBN: 0-439-24419-6

Imagine getting framed for something you didn't do. Imagine getting sent to a camp where you dig holes to build character. Well because of Stanley Yelnats "no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather" that is how he spent 18 months of his life.
The book Holes is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats. If you'll notice Yelnats is Stanley spelled backwards. But anyway, Stanley a regular kid gets framed or stealing a pair of shoes and has to spend 18 months at Camp Greenlake. During these 18 months he has to dig 1 hole 5 feet wide and 5 feet deep everyday to build character or that's what they tell them. At this camp Stanley makes new friends and encounters a totally new environment. To find out what happens to Stanley and the conspiracy at Camp Greenlake, read Holes.
Furthermore, in my opinion Holes is probably one of the best books you can read. What makes this book so good is that it is funny in some parts, serious at times and exciting in others. This book has a really good plot and a great ending. All these things come together to make a great book.
Also there's not just a book Holes but a movie too. The movie is just like the book. I know because I've read the book and saw the movie. The only difference I could see between the two is that in the book Stanley is heavyset and in the movie he isn't. All in all I suggest that you read the book before you watch the movie.
If you like adventure books then I recommend this book to anyone. It isn't hard to read and it has a great plot. This book also keeps you into it all the way through. Some books are boring but this one is not and I know most people don't like boring books.
In conclusion, if you can't imagine having to be punished for something you didn't do then you need to read Holes.

Summary: Holes... You'll Dig it!
Review: Holes by Louis Sachar is a great book for kids from age 10 to 14. It is filled with adventure and mystery. I would give this book a five out of five-star rating, even though it can be confusing at times. You start off reading about a middle school boy named Stanley Yelnats. His life takes a turn when he picks up a mysterious pair of shoes that "fall from the sky." Actually, those shoes belonged to a famous baseball player, Clyde "Sweet Feet" Livingston. Stanley is charged with the crime of stealing the shoes from a homeless shelter, where they were going to be auctioned. Even though he is innocent, he is sent to Camp Green Lake, a camp for juvenile delinquents, and all he can do about it is blame his bad luck on his "no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather." The strange thing about Camp Green Lake was that it didn't have a lake and hardly anything around it was green! Stanley was assigned to Group D, where he met some other boys named X-ray, Zigzag, Squid, Magnet, Armpit, and Zero. Every day for the next 18 months, Stanley and the boys from Group D were forced to dig holes that were five feet deep and five feet wide. The boys were told that digging holes would build character. But you will have to read the book to find out the real reason the boys were made to dig holes at Camp Green Lake! Throughout the book you will read about the story of Stanley, his great-great-grandfather, and the "kissing outlaw," Kate Barlow. It is amazing how the author relates everything together. I'm sure you'll enjoy all of the mystery and adventure you're bound to dig up while reading Holes by Louis Sachar.

Summary: Jeanelle's view of HOLES
Review: The book Holes is like a sandwich with everything on it! It has adventure, love, excitement you name it. What Stanley Yelnats thinks is punishment is actually his greatest experience ever! He becomes confident, strong, and finds a best friend. Can Stanley break his family curse? Read the book that inspired the movie.

Holes is one of the greatest books I have ever read. It was so engrossing that I had a lot of trouble putting it down. It was a story of how the past effected the present. I loved how it tied together in the end. I love happy endings. Stanley and hector bonded an inseparable friendship.

Summary: Hole's theme and metaphorical meaning
Review: The book Holes was a great book. I liked all the details in it. Especially the way they put pictures in your head. For instance, when they say he's going to Camp Greenlake but he actually goes in to the middle of the desert. I also like the way you can get a theme and metaphorical meanings out of the shoes.
I felt the theme of the book was "everything in life may look good at first, but can turn to be bad at the end." The shoes fell upon him and he thought it was his lucky day, but he ended up having to go to a juvenile camp for theft. so now we see how we can get the theme out of the shoes. I also thought that the shoes can express more metaphorically. You can replace the shoes with something as simple as having fun. You can have fun, but it may not be the right thing to do. If you do something illegal but at the time it's fun, it can come back to haunt you by getting arrested. This is how I found the shoes metaphorically.

Summary: Dig it Up!!!!
Review: The book I was reading was very good. The title was Holes and it was written by Louis Sachar. I think this book deserves four stars because it could have been less confusing. This book is about a kid who is walking home from school and gets hit on the head with a pair of shoes that belong to his favorite baseball player's shoes. Then he goes to court because they think he stole the shoes. Then he gets sent to Camp Green Lake. Read the book if you want to find out what happens on his trip to Camp Green Lake.
