Summary: Dig It
Review: The book I am reviewing is Holes by Louis Sachar. I think the book should get five stars because it was a great book. I also liked the book because it told you so much about the story from the title of the book. This story is good but is also confusing. Every chapter is switching back through time. The book Holes is also very exciting and cool because it has great sentences and words. I liked the part when the warden, Stanley and Zero found the gold. I also liked when Zero found his mom. But my favorite part is when Stanley stole Mr. Sir's truck. I think the book Holes is a perfect book because it is so funny. I really like this book. THE END.

Review: The book I'm writing about Holes by Louis Sachar. The book is mainly about Stanley Yelnats, he's the main character. Stanley gets sent to a camp were you have to dig holes. They have to dig holes because the superintendent knows there's a treasure buried there. The problem is Stanley runs away from Camp Green Lake. He ran away because his friend, Zero, ran away. He wants to find him. I recommend this book to Lauren and all my friends

Summary: A review for holes
Review: Stanley Yelnats has a series of bad things happening in his life. He's overweight, his apartment always smells like shoes, and people make fun of him. This is because he has a curse in his family. A professional athlete's shoes fall on his head. Stanley was accused of stealing. In court he had a choice of going to jail or going to Camp Green Lake. At camp he is required to dig 1 hole a day 5 feet deep and 5 feet wide. He met a boy named Zero there that has something to do with the curse in his family.

Summary: Fun, but could use some polish
Review: Holes is the story of Stanley Yelnats, who finds himself in a juvenile bootcamp after being convicted of a crime he did not commit. An overweight and socially inept boy, Stanley at first has a hard time in the camp, but eventually makes friends with the boys with whom he shares the dry lakebed and hole-digging project. It is with these boys that Stanley will undertake adventures, misadventures, and eventually an Odyessy-like journey through both the desert and his own coming-of-age soul.

Holes is definitely a fun story, with something for every type of reader. Stanley's interaction with his friends at camp is sometimes touching and often funny. The actions of the warden, who purposefully gives a non-lethal, but intensely painful, dose of snake venom to one of the camp counselors, will give a thrill to those readers who like suspense and action. Stanley's journey through the desert to find and rescue his friend has a literary quality that is almost lyrical and will arose a spark of fond remembrance for those who enjoyed Homer's Odyessy. And the shutting down of the camp by the lawyer, who is working for Stanley's father to help patent an invention, will give satisfaction to readers who desire a happy ending all around.

However, it is also this same 'something for everyone' type of story that gives the book a very first-draft feeling. In turns the story is beautiful, sarcastic, innocent, and brutally violent. It just doesn't go altogether. Each turn in tone makes the reader feel that they have been jarred out of this book and into some other. One wonders if it hasn't been written to appeal to adults and children, in an attempt to capture a larger market share. It must be nice for an author when that happens, but in this case it was just too forced and made the book feel rough and unpolished.

Children will probably not be very aware of this in the book, so perhaps this is still a good read for them. I would definitely caution parents to read this book for themselves, though, before giving it over to their children. There is some brutal violence in this book, and parents will need to know it and gauge whether it is appropriate for their child.

Summary: Holes was great
Review: I'm reviewing the book Holes by Louis Sachar. Stanley is a young boy who was found guilty of a crime that he did not commit. He is sent to boys' juvenile delinquent camp called Camp Green Lake. At Camp Green Lake all the boys have to dig holes to supposedly build character. This is what they are told, but they soon find out there is more to digging the holes than just building character. All the boys treat Stanley badly until they figure out that he is not so different from themselves. Months later, Stanley's best friend runs away and Stanley goes after him. They both embark on a journey that they will never forget. I love this book because it was about sticking to commitments and never giving up.

Summary: Holes
Review: I loved the book Holes by Louis Sachar. It captured my attention right away and never let it go. I want to read it again and again. I couldn't get my eyes of the page, they seemed to be glued on the page and I couldn't get them off. The story seemed to be a gigantic 1,000 piece puzzle that you have to put together. You can never figure what is going to happen next. The book has a big roller coaster of events. The characters each had their own unique personality. Stanley Yelnats the main character is shy and scared and mad when he gets to Camp Green Lake for bad boys because he always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He blames his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig stealing-great-great-grandfather because he has never been lucky at all. Camp Green Lake is anything but green and Stanley has to dig a hole all day in the blazing sun. Mr. Sir is a mean man with no humor and can get quite mean. Stanley's counselor isn't to mean but isn't that great either. The warden is the one in charge of everything and seems to want something. Stanley also meets other diggers that are in his tent. They have their own personalities and nicknames. There is an enchanting mystery about the camp that really reels the readers in. It is fantastic!

Summary: Honor Reading Review
Review: Who would of ever thought digging holes to build charactor could lead to the adventure of a lifetime for Stanley Yelnats. Holes is one of the few books I've had trouble putting down. The flashbacks in the telling of the story is amazing and the old type feeling of the book is outstanding. And lets not forget the comedy of the book! I defintily suggest this book for teenagers and even adults who want to get away from their horrible lifes and take a look into someones who's life has to be 10 times worse than anyone elses!

Review: Book: HOLES

Paperback

Imagine you were walking down the side walk and a pair of old smelly shoes fell right on your head and you didn't know exactly where they came from well in the book Holes that's exactly what happens to Stanley yelnats.
The main characters in Holes are Stanley yelnats, zero and the rest of the boys in D tent at camp green lake there is no shade at all and the boys have to dig holes that are five feet wide and five feet in diameter and after they have finished there individual holes they only get a four min. showers witch isn't enough for armpit (another boy in d tent and telling buy his name I think you can tell that he smells) the reason the boys have to dig holes is because the warden said that it would make them build some character.
I really really love this book because it's full of adventure. My favorite part in the book is when Zero gets in trouble for fighting and Mr.Pendanceski was making fun of zero and calling him stupid well I think zero got a little tired of it so he took his shovel and hit Mr.Pendanceski right across the face with it and with that little incident Mr.Pendanceski wont be making fun of people for a while.
I think a very touching part in the book is when Stanley runs off to go and find zero because after the incident with Mr.Pendanceski Zero had ran off and that really got to me because it showed what a good friend Stanley really is.
I would recommend this book to anybody because I think that it teaches a good lesson about not stealing and about how good of a friend you really can be to anybody just like Stanley was a good friend to Zero.
