What the heck. And throw it away. I am not one of those girls who would rather read in a chair all day. But this book was amazing! Everyone told me i had to read it and I thought. Yeah Sure, really exciteing. I mean the book is about Stanly digging holes. But I have to admit, there was more to it than that and I recomeneed it to EVERYONE! IT was a real page turner. Ask my friends, in the end I was on fire! I read 38 pages in 15 minutes the end was so good. So to sum it all up Holes is a must for everyone

It is about a young boy, Stanley Yelnats, who seems to have a run of bad luck in his family. He is an innocent boy sent to a juvenile detention facility to dig holes in the sun all day for doing something he did not do. As the story goes on it seems to be come apparent to Stanley that they are not just digging as a punishment, but to find something unknow to the delinquents at camp Green Lake, which has since dried up and is now the hottest desert in Texas. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a novel with an interesting plot. The book was very well thought out.

Review: I read about 20 books out loud to my kids every year, and this one is my favorite from the past year. Fascinating characters and amazing coincidences made this a page-turner. The kids begged me to keep reading until my voice was hoarse!

I teach fourth grade and nothing else compares to the experience that my class had with "Holes". Every detail is important and it all comes full-circle. Excellent!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Dig a Hole Review: Holes is about a kid named Stanley who is in the wrong place at the wrong time, and is accused of stealing shoes. He is sent to a camp where he has to dig a hole every day in hot weather. After a while Stanley gets suspicious about what they are digging for. After his friend runs away Stanley tries to go save him but they both end up on a mountain that looks like a thumb. To find out the rest read Holes by Louis Sacher. Stanley isn't the thinnest kid or the bravest, but at the camp he loses weight, and finds his bravery. He also lerns to make friends. I think the author was trying to show that anybody can change if you give them a chance.

It is suspenseful, occasionally humorous and absolutely rivoting. You won't be able to put it down. I shared it with other teachers at school and they are now reading it aloud to our upper elementary classes. Besides the twists and turns to the plot, and the many connections from past to present, the book has a message of hope for all kids that have ever felt like they didn't "fit in". Our students and teachers will always look at "holes" a bit differently after reading this terrific story. I highly recommend this book to anyone from 8-80.
