Summary: An annoyingly [poor] book
Review: I picked up this book remembering when I was smaller and loved Sachar's "Wayside Stories" series. I loved them because they were crazy and wacky in a funny, enjoyable way. "Holes", on the other hand, is crazy and wacky in an obnoxious, annoying, boring, BAD way. I can't figure out why everyone likes it so much!

Summary: A great, fun book
Review: This book will definately keep you reading the whole way through, and will suprise you with the great ending. It might start out a bit slow, but will get going fast. A boy is sent for a camp, where you dig one five feet wide, and five feet deep hole each day. It is punishment for bad kids, but Stanley isn't bad. He slowly catches on and finds out what the warden is up to, and sets out for what is his.

There is one bad thing about this book: unbelievable coincidence. It won't upset the fun and I highly recommend this one to you.

Summary: Great Book
Review: ... This is one of the best books I've read. This is, in fact, one ofmy favorite books along with the Chronicals of Narnia byC.S. Lewis...., and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.... END

Summary: A must read, excellent as a read-aloud for 5th & 6th graders
Review: I am a 6th grade teacher, and read this book to my 6th grade class this year after reading it myself. The students were absolutely entralled with the book, and wanted me to read it each day. Stanley is a wonderful protagonist, and Louis Sachar keeps the reader wondering in which direction the story will take a turn. The book is an excellent tool for teaching foreshadowing and for symbolism. I highly recommend it!

Summary: Excellent
Review: If you are a grown up who guiltily enjoyed Harry Potter, all the while thinking "This is great! But it's a kids' book....." maybe you should consider some of the other great writing for children out there. Take advantage of the current changing attitude towards Children's Literature and give yourself a treat. Starting with this book.

"Holes" is very well written - not a jarring sentence to be found, a fantastic plot, marvelous characters and some powerfully vivid images. It's beautifully dark and bleak, but not without colour or humour. The attention to detail and great description allow you to feel and smell and taste the story and not just read it. This is children's literature of the highest quality and a rollicking good read to boot. Brilliant!

Summary: Highly Recommended
Review: I could hardly put it down! I loved how the story of Elya Yelnats, the story of Kate Barlow, and the main story all tied together even more than was obvious at first. Hint: pay close attention to last names!

Summary: REVIEW
Review: This is one of my favorite books. It is so passionate. Louis Sachar is one of my favorite authors. I love Holes and There's A Boy In The Girl's Bathroom. I'd buy this if you are a pre teen. It's about a boy that was framed for stealing and sent to a juvenile justice camp. He meets new friends. He runs away and almost dies... I don't want to spoil for the rest so just buy it and see it for yourself.

Summary: Holes
Review: Holes is a terrific book about an innocent boy who shouldn't have anything to do with Camp Green Lake. This book even has inserts with stories from the past that help you figure out the book!
