Summary: This is truly a ten-star book.
Review: Okay, so I'm a grown-up bookseller with fondness for quality young adult literature, and MAYBE that affects my star-giving habits, but not in this case. Holes is far and away one of the best novels I've ever read and recommended to anyone, whether that reader is 10 or 100 years old. Every man, woman, or child who has read this book on my recommendation has loved it, and recommended to many other readers, who have recommended it to still more readers. Holes is one those novels where every single story element is necessary to the whole - not even a single word in this novel is extraneous. The issues presented in the book, which gradually reveal themselves to the reader, are issues that readers of any age will find thought provoking - racism, family, cooperation and friendship. All of these things are combined in a package that is funny, poignant, touching, thrilling, and absolutely compelling. If you are an adult, and your child is lucky enough to have this book, steal it for an evening or two and read it. If you are an adult with kids but no Holes in the house, buy it and read it before or after or with your child. If you are a kid, beg your parent for this book. Quite simply, if you are a breathing human being, you need to read this book. I promise you that will be glad that you did.

Summary: Buy this book
Review: I think this is a very interesting and unsual book. I loved the way the author reveals the story behind the story. While I was reading, I could picture this book becoming a movie.

Summary: Great Book.
Review: When i first saw this on the shelf in the bookstore,i was thinking a book called 'Holes' couldn't possibly be any good. I,amazingly, bought it and decided to waste some time reading it. I finished the book the first night and i loved it! Stanley Yelnats is sent to a type of prison (or Boot Camp) where boys go when they have commited a crime. For punishment, the boys in the prison have to dig a hole 5 feet wide, and 5 feet deep each day in a dried out lake, under the hot, scorching sun...and they can't go back to camp until the hole is completly finished. Plus, the boys have to watch out for poisonous critters. And,quite a few things happen at camp, besides the hole-digging. I found this book a very fun, enjoyable thing to read. Don't judge a book by it's cover,I greatly recommend this book.

Summary: Pretty Good
Review: I read this book in 5th grade and I believe that it is a good book.(I'm going into 6th)The Part that discourages you from reading it is the begining because it starts out pretty slow. After you get past the first part the book is a very fun adventurous book that will suprise you in the end. I recomend this book to you because I think it is a good book to read.

Summary: BUY THIS BOOK!
Review: I can't recommend this book more emphatically. I have handed it to everyone I know and they all love it. Sachar is one of the best storytellers I have ever encountered. His ability to pull every detail together to form an out of this world ending is remarkable. Almost, almost, better than Harry Potter. It's a coin toss!

Summary: Why should kids have all the enjoyment?
Review: This book was recommended to me by a librarian. I like everything about the book - characterization, multiple plot lines that come together, imagery, and lessons about a wide variety of subjects. It also assumes intelligence in the reader, and that the reader will keep things in mind. A satisfying ending completes the many pleasures of this book.

Summary: I Read It Straight Through
Review: It's a great read and an imaginative story. My only complaint is that all the "coincidences" involved to make the story work seem a bit hokey, but I still had a big smile on my face when I finished.

Summary: A Book of Determination, Adventure, and Spirit!
Review: Holes is an amazing book full of action and adventure. Theauthor leaves you on the edge of your seat gasping for more. I read itand could not put the book done until the very last word. Holes teaches you determination and spirit has a young boy and a friend he makes while serving at a camp after being accused of stealing sneakers which were going to be sold for charity strive to escacpe the hardships they face. Thirst and exhaustion lurk in the future everyday as the prisoners of the camp are forced to dig a giant hole everday. The boys determination and spirit act as a role model for readers. An outstanding read for all!

Summary: A Hole-y Review
Review: I thought that Holes definitely wasn't Louis Sachar's best book. It didn't have as many interesting details as the plot had potential for, and the book kept flipping back and forth from two stories. I didn't like that because when you got back to Stanley Yelnats (the main character's) story, you couldn't understand it as well because the other story was fresh in your mind. This is also not the typical type of book Louis Sachar writes. It was much more serious and less funny. All in all, I think that this is the kind of book you take out of the library for a one-time read, not buy and keep forever.
