Stanley was trying to figure out the really reason behind the diging.along the way Stanley found a few things about himself and the holes. This is a really adventurous book. michael jordan

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: a great book for kids Review: This is one of the best childrens/young adult books I've read in awhile. It is an Indian Paitnt Brush book for 2000 and deserves the title, along of course with the Newbery Medal. I had the good fortune to meet and listen to Mr. Sachar and he is just as wry and interesting in real life. This story has a nice message, and keeps the reader interested, very worthwhile.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Holes A Great Book Review: Holes is a really good book I thought. When I read this book I was so amazed about how good it was. I was so interested in this book that I couldn't put it down. Holes is a bout a kid named Stanly Yelnats. He was convicted of stealing a famous persons shoes from a homeless place. So for his punisment he was sent to a camp called Camp Green Lake. You would figure that this camp was green but it wasn't. There had not been rain at Camp Green Lake for over 50 Years. There wass only one tree that was green, and that was by the camp consulers cabin. At this camp each day a kid had to dig a hole that was 5 feet wide and 5 feet deep. To me that would be a lot of work. Well Stanly was getting tired about digging holes everyday. He had like 30 holes done when he decided to run away. The consuler said that he would have to come back because they were more than 100 miles away from civilization. But when he didn't come back for a for a few days, they started to get worried. Well that's all I am going to tell you about the story. I think that you should read this book because it was very interesting. The ending is the most interesting of all. I think that this book is not for unger childeren under 9 because of the content. Well I have to go. I hope that you liked what I read. Remember read holes because it is really good. -kayla Monday
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This book exceeds children's literature today! Review: So much of what is written for children today is fluff. Holes is a wonderfully woven tale. It is an excellent novel to read aloud to a class with great lessons in friendship.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Holes is the book for YOU! Holes is a story about a young boy, Stanley Yelnats, who is sent off to a boys' detention center. Everyday at Camp Green Lake, these boys dig 5x5x5 holes in a dried up lake. While attending Camp Green Lake, Stanley matures quite a bit and makes friendships with other boys. Throughout the novel, there are many flashbacks to the camp over 100 years before. After figuring out a mystery, Stanley travels through a wild adventure. Stanley is trying to save a friend, while at the same time try to save his own life. At the end, everything comes together and Stanley becomes a hero.It doesn't matter what reading level you're at, Holes is the book for you!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Suggested for everyone! Review: Stanley Yelnats is falsely accused of a crime and given the options of jail, or Camp Green Lake. Having never been to a camp in his life, he chooses Green Lake. He arrives to find nothing green and no lake. To "improve character", he is instructed to dig a hole 5 feet by 5 feet in the dried up lake bed. He soon finds this not to improve character, but to find something for the warden. Kind of confusing until near the end when everything comes together, but still a great book that is suggested for any ages for academic or personal purposes.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Holey Mystery Review: Stanley Yelnats accused of stealing a pair of shoes from a famous baseball player who had donated the shoes to charity. He was sentenced to a year of work at Camp Green Lake. When Stanley arrives at Camp Green Lake, he sees a whole differentworld. There was no lake at the camp, only miles and miles of dried dirt filled with holes. Stanley's assignment: He is to dig one hole every single day for a year. Stanley meets many other boys, but one caught his eye. His name was Zero. Stanley and Zero get to know each other. They become very good friends until something happened. Zero had started a conflict and hit one of the adults with a shovel. As soon as he did that, he mysteriously walked off and never came back. That night while it was lightning and thundering, Stanley saw a mountain in the shape of a thumb. He decided to go look for Zero and take refuge on that mountain known as God's Thumb. Stanley finds Zero, and they find food and water. Remembering an old story, Stanley recalls that there should be a treasure buried somewhere on the Green Lake campus. Stanley and Zero walk back to the camp. Finding the treasure, they are released. They both live happy lives in the end and never plan to go back to Camp Green Lake again! Recommended for people who like mysteries and adventures.

I thoroughly enjoyed it from page 1. I couldn't stop reading it! I skipped supper, reading Mr. Sachar's flowing words and throbbing dialect. A must for kids (and of course adults!) ages 9 and up. It's a book that everyone will love, laugh and cry with. I VERY STRONGLY reccomend it!
