Summary: In a world of so much evil, good prevails!
Review: I read this book in one evening. I kept reading wanting to know what in the world would anyone find buried in a "used to be" lake. The main character, Stanley, seems to be a drifter from the start. Soon we discover he is a boy of much compassion and strength, as well as smarts.

Summary: Perfect
Review: Holes was a great book. It was like a puzzle, and at the end everything went together. You have to read it! Holes actually made me put down my Harry Potter book and started me reading Holes several times. Louis Sachar is a great writer. Take advice from 10 year old me...It's REALLY GOOD!! =D

Summary: A Newbery Medal book young people WILL read!
Review: As an elementary school librarian, I have been disappointed with many of the recent Newbery Medal winning books, mainly because it seemed like adults were selecting books that they thought young people SHOULD read. Many recent Newbery winning books just sit on our shelves. Therefore, when I added "Holes" to our collection, simply because it had received the medal, I expected to see yet another title collecting dust. To my surprise, this book has been constantly checked out since we received it, and young people, especially boys, are always talking about this book.As some of the other reviews have suggested, this book is a bit quirky, but some of the mysterious features of the story propel the reader forward and Sachar does a nice job of filling in the holes by the time you reach the end.Stanley and "Zero" are two boys down on their luck, who become friends in a terrible place. As fate would have it, the misfortunes that brought them together turn out to be interrelated."Holes" is another new book that gets young people to read, much like the Harry Potter phenomenon. Not only that, it gets them to think and talk about what they've been reading. Based on that, this book is recommended.

Summary: All lose ends neatly tied up at the end!
Review: Excellent multi-plot story with very unusual happenings. It brings in an old-world, old-time event with the wild West of a century ago, and several boys in a modern work camp. How did he ever DO that? Everyone I know who's read it loved it.

Review: I think the book was very good. It talks about bad kids and they teach them how to be good. The only thing I didn't like about the book is how they were treated by the counselors. Overall i would recommend this book.

Summary: pat review
Review: The part that I did not like was when stanley was falsely accussed of stealing the pair of shoes. I felt this was unjust and unfair anhd it shows how our society will somtimes blame others brfore finding out all of the facts. However, I would highly recommend the book since it has great plot twists and keeps the reader riveted.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It was an interesting book.
Review: I like the friendship between Stanley and Zero because you can see how strong a relationship can be between two people when they relaize that they are alone and they need to trust in each other. I didn't like the warden because she is a cold person who dosen't care about anybody else but herself and she is greedy, however I think that she's a good caracter for the book because she plays an important role in the plot.
