Rating: Summary: What I Thought Review: This book was about a kid named Stanley Yelnats. He was sent to a detention camp for stealing some shoes. The camp was run by a mean warden who made the boys dig holes in search of buried treasure. Stanley and a boy named Zero escaped from the camp. I won't give away the ending, but they had a good adventure and it ended well. This book was okay, but it moved slowly.
Rating: Summary: Voted the "Best Book This Year!" by my 8th grade class Review: Louis Sacher's latest book was written while he was sequestered away in his home office atop his garage in the hot, dusty city of Austin, Texas. Each day, for a year and a half, he added to his story, keeping it so secretive that even his wife and daughter were not allowed to find out anything about the book until it was completed. It is with this same air of secrecy that the reader begins their journey through "Holes" unraveling the plot, layer by layer, until at last all is revealed. Sacher uses a fictious dried-up lake bed in Texas as the setting for Camp Green Lake, a detention camp for bad boys. When Stanley Yelnats is wrongly accused of stealing,he unwittingly chooses "camp" over jail. Once there he befriends a boy named Zero and learns the value of friendship. A female warden, an onion salesman, a female outlaw, and a curse by an old Egyptian woman all play a part in Stanley discovering what it takes to overcome his own fears and risk his life to save a friend. Intrigue and plot twists will keep the reader guessing as they dig up the truth about Camp Green Lake and a host of lively characters. All of my eighth grade students at Baker Middle School were enthralled with this book as we read it aloud in class. I have never seen such a positive response to a book by middle grades students. I highly recommend it to everyone.

He will be sent to Camp Green Lake where he, Zero and 6 other boys, will dig holes. Stanley feels however, that there is something more than character building going on here. Soon Stanley with the help of Zero, another one of the convicted kids at Camp Green Lake, will try to find out more about what the warden is looking for, in a dried up lake.
Rating: Summary: Breathless Review: As I sat down to read Holes, I thought it might be an enjoyable read so I began. Well I tell you what, that was the best read, my heart was pounding through every page. At age twenty I've read many books. But, none have ever left me so breathless.
Rating: Summary: The ultimate showdown Review: Holes by Louis Sachar is a must read for people of all ages. I could not put it down although I began reading it after hearing a less than stellar review from a colleague. However, I am a Texan so that pushed me to read about this fictional boys' camp in West Texas. I was not disappointed. Within its pages, you will find the most satisfying showdown between good and evil since Gary Cooper faced down those black-hatted desperadoes in the classic movie High Noon. Buy multiple copies; give them to friends of all ages at holiday time; read it to your students. Read and enjoy this one. You'll never forget it!

Rating: Summary: This book was awesomely cool Review: This book was fun to read. The cover wasn't great, but the story was good. I like how it made you "fill in the holes" at the end. I liked it when they found refuge under "God's Thumb" and I also liked it when they kept telling us stories within the main story.
Rating: Summary: The Best! Review: I give this book "one thumb up" (read the book and you'll see what I mean). If you like unpredictable books, then read this one.
Rating: Summary: Holes Review Review: A pair of 10-year old girls in New York Holes is a fantastic book. It's about a boy named Stanley, he has bad luck. He gets arrested for something he didn't do and goes to Camp Green Lake. He doesn't realize that it's not a camp and doesn't have a lake. It is almost like a desert. The warden makes all the boys dig a hole per day. There was a boy there named Zero and Stanley was teaching him how to read and write for a trade of Zero digging part of his hole. Zero hated to dig holes so one day he ran away, Stanley going after him. He found Zero in a boat, he survived by drinking "sploosh". Stanley noticed the weird shape of the mountain, it looked like a thumbs-up. They climbed the mountain and they survived by drinking dirty water and eating onions. This is all that we're going to say because we want you to read this fantastic book!
