Rating: Summary: A crime he didn't commit. Review: Stanley Yelnats was framed for a crime he didn't commit. When he was walking home from school one day, shoes just fell from the sky. Actually, he walked under an overpass. The shoes were old and smelly, something his dad was looking for because he was trying to invent something that could recycle old shoes. So Stanley started running and the cops pulled up next to him and told him that those shoes were stolen. The shoes belonged to a famous baseball player. This went to court and Stanley told the judge his story. No one believed they just fell from the sky so Stanley was given a choice, jail or Camp Green Lake for character building. He had never been to camp before but this is no fun camp. There they say that if you dig a hole everyday in the hot sun, it will build character. When Stanley finds something, the Warden makes them dig at the same spot. Stanley gets suspicious what happens when you find something. Are they really digging for character at Camp Green Lake or for something else much bigger than they expected. Find out in this great book.
Rating: Summary: "Holes"-I FELL INTO THIS STORY Review: This book is about a boy whos name is Stanley Yelnats, his name is spelled the same both forward and backwards. He is wrongly accused of stealing shoes from a homeless shelter. The court finds him guilty and gives him a choice to go to military school or Camp Green Lake,he chose Camp Green Lake because his had never been fortunate enough to send him to camp. When he arraived to Camp Green Lake it wasnt great at all!The boys that were sent there had to dig holes in the hot desert sun! What I liked about this book is how much Stanley matures as the story went on.Such as his little confrontation with the warden made him more serious about his digging. When he met the person that really stole the shoes he was nice to him instead of being mean. This book taught me to make good choices becasue my freedom and other advantages can be taken away.
Rating: Summary: A great story about freinds and cruelty of the world Review: The book Holes is fantastic book about the world and reality. This book shows that not everthing will always go your way. For instance when Stanly Yelnats (the main character)is accused of commiting a crime that he did not do, he is shocked that the reality is that he is going to have to pay the time and go to Camp Green Lake. This book also brings out why people act the way they do. Lets take the warden for example she is a mean lady who runs the camp. Stanly can not find out why she is so mean, until he finds a piece of gold and the warden snatches it from him. Then Stanly starts to understand what the warden is after. He finds she is so mean because she wants the boys at the camp to dig her holes so that she can find more gold. Because she believes in a legend that states that there is gold buried somewhere on Camp Green Lake. So if you ever get a chance to read this book I would go for it.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful read for all ages Review: Although _Holes_ is probably at a fourth grade level in terms of vocabulary and syntax, its content is sophisticated and engaging enough to hold the attention of just about anybody. I have recommended this book to everyone from elementary and high-school students to my husband and in-laws, and every single person I know who read it has enjoyed it tremendously.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't wait! Review: Every night I read to my son, 9, and my daughter, 5. As I was reading Holes to them, it got to where I couldn't wait to find out what happened. By the last two chapters, I felt I couldn't put the book down. I had to take it to work with me so I could read ahead and find out what was coming next. My son was not happy with me that i took it to work and was double not happy with me because I wouldn't share my findings with him until he heard it being read to him. What a great book!
Rating: Summary: This is a great book ! Review: I got this book for my Summer Book report. I've heard about it and some kids thought it was good so I decided to see what it was about. I didn't know if I was going to enjoy it or not, so I read the first couple of chapters. I just kept reading it and reading it. I was done in 2 days. It wasn't boring and the author, Louis Sachar wrote it in a kind of humorous way and it was so interesting, no wonder it got an award. I really recommend this book. You'll really enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: Shelby'S thoughts Review: Here are my thoughts about Holes: I don't like the warden because she is mean. Also, I don't like Mr. Pendanski because he wanted Zero to die. I hate onions. I liked when Zero and Stanley found the suitcase because it had jewels and valuable papers in it. I also liked when Stanley's father made up a foot invention because it made feet smell better. I liked when Stanley went home because he would have a house to live in. I liked when Stanley saw his mom because it was nice. I would recommend this book to young adults.
Rating: Summary: An interesting read, for both adults and children. Review: This very entertaining, very unusual book will keep you hooked from beginning to end.

Rating: Summary: Holes by Louis Sachar Review: Holes is an excellent book, and it isn't difficult to see why it won the Newbary Award. It is a brilliant story, and it is one of Louis Sachar's best books that he has writtten. It is full of wit and cleverness. The story revolves around a handful of characters, but its main focus is on Stanley Yelnats IV. After being wrongly accused of a crime he is sent to a correctional facility callled Camp Green Lake.(There's no lake.) It is in the middle of the hot desert, where the kids had to dig a hole everyday to improve character. Stanley, there at the camp discovers his friends Zero, X-Ray, Armpit, Zizgzag, Magnet, and Squid. There is also the Warden, who is probably the meanest person you'll read about. As Stanley digs holes in Camp Green Lake, the author also describes the past. The stories in the past informs us about Kate Barlow, Sam the onion man, Trout Walker, and Stanley's ancestors. Slowly discovers the secrets of Camp Green Lake, and brings the past to connect with the present in this book about destiny and fate.(You'll see why when you read the book.) To learn more, read this good book. I recommend the book to anyone who wants to read a good book.
