Summary: A Great Book
Review: This book was wonderful. A nice plot and character detail was excellent. If you enjoy stories with suspicion and laughter, this book is for you! I read this many times, and it is sincerely a page-turner. As great as Harry Potter! This book is indeed one of my favorites of all time! A boy named Stanley is unjustly sent to a boy's detention center, where everything there changes his life! It may be a bit confusing at first, but everything starts to make sense and kick in soon. It is very nice to read!

Summary: An astonishing piece by Sachar...
Review: This book caught my eye, while I was actually searching for a fantasy/sci fi book, I read the first chapter (only two pages) and I was simply fascinated by the content, I quite openly laughed out loud, right there in the store, after every sentence came a new burst of laughter, Sachar gave me a good laugh, and for that I bought this book. If your reading this, I highly encourage you to buy this book, although the rest of the book wasn't quite as humouristic as the first chapter, I'm quite sure that you will be as impressed as I was with this writing. And since the text is so simple, anyone from the age of 10 to 100 will enjoy this book! My mother is reading it at the moment, and she seems to be enjoying it just as much as I did, so do yourself a favor, and get a copy of this masterpiece, it will keep you occupied for atleast a week, and then you'll read it again, and again and again.

Summary: I Just Didn't Like This Book
Review: I may be the lone dissenter here, but I just didn't like this book. I found Stanley's arrest and convictions implausible and I didn't like the story behind his name.

The story had too many coincidences. I thought the digging the hole business and the legend of Kate ridiculous; I thought the characters were a step above exaggerated caricatures.

The ending, while a delight to many left me cold. I plain didn't like this story and found it absurd.

Summary: the great american novel.....
Review: This book is really awesome. I recomend it to kids as well as adults. Stanley has to work in the sun beating down on him at 105 degrees. He must dig a hole each day which is very deep.
You won't get bored thats for sure. Then there is Mr. Sir (I know that is an odd name, but who cares) who is one of there counselers and is very strange in many ways. You will see what I mean. So! What are you waiting for? If there was 20 stars, it would be that.

Summary: The Best Book I've Read So Far!!!
Review: This is probably one of the best books I've read. Stanley Yelnats is a hilarious character. The book has many, many connections and has some strange happenings going on. The weirdest part is that the camp is called "Camp Green Lake" and there is no lake there. The book talks about the history of Green Lake and about Stanley's no-good-rotten-pig-stealing great-great-grandfather. Stanley ends up at Camp Green Lake because he supposedly stole some famous baseball player's (Clyde Livingston) shoes. The story may be confusing at first, but in the end, it all makes sense

Summary: V's book review
Review: Ive never read a Science Fiction book. The first Sciece fiction book I remember reading was HOLES. I thought it would be boring, but when I first started reading I couldn't put the book down. The author is Louis Sachar, he made this book very suspenceful but not by his words, but of what the person would imagine, or put in there mind.
The settin gof the story is at a large dryed up lake. In the lake there are a bunch of holes, that campers have been digging. There are also lizards that live there, and if they bite you once you will die.
The main character in the book is Stanley Yelnats. He was sent to camp because the police assumed he stole shoes from a charity center. At this camp, they believe that digging holes build up character. Stanley does nt believe that.
A long time ago there was a little city that lived around the lake. It had water then, Stanley knew the story about what happened to the city. He knew that they burried a treasure some where around the lake. Stanley had a relativethat lived back then, thats why he knows about the treasure.
During camp Stanley met some other friends. One of his friends zero, couldn't read or write so Stanley offered to help. Zero offered to dig part of his hole. Campers got mad and the mean boss wanted to take away zero. So zero ran away with no food and water.
Stanley came to his senses and went to look for zero. If you want to know if Stanly finds food, water, zero, or even the treasure. Read the book. People say it is a " thrilling story
'.They also say "excellent written". If you want to read a fun, well-written story read HOLES.

Summary: Wonderfully detailed and relistic
Review: This is the right choice Stanley convinced himself. It had to be better than jail. Stanley had been convicted of stealing. He knew he was innocent but was somehow proven guilty. He was on his way to Camp Green Lake. Once Camp Green Lake was a lake, the largest lake in Texas in fact. But, now it was just a huge, dusty, hot, desert used as a disiplinary camp for the underaged trouble-makers of Texas. Louis Sachar was very detailed in explaining how horrible it was for the people at Camp Green Lake. It was realistic the way he made it, you felt like you were digging holes in 110 degree weather.
Each day the so called "campers" of Camp Green Lake were forced to dig a hole five feet deep and five feet wide. No one knew why either. But the warden is a little suspicous.
The story is strange but written in a cool way. It makes you believe everything he says.
