Summary: A worthy read
Review: When I read Holes I wasn't disappointed. This book has two stories in one. The first story is the story of Stanley Yelnats, a boy who has been convicted of a crime he didn't commit, and his troubles in a dicipline camp where he has to dig a 5 foot hole daily. No one knows why they dig. They just do. The second story is aboout the history of the camp and the town around it. Many of the main character's ancestors are in it.

The two stories have mysteries which tie into each other by the end and have an unexpected twist ending. Overall, this book is a good find, but not worth going out of you mind trying to find it, unless you are a huge fan of mysteries.

Summary: HOLES
Review: I read the book Holes by Lois Sachar. I thought it was very interesting. Stanley Yelnats is the main character. Stanley is a poor kid. So one day when he was walking home, Stanley was hit in the back with a pair of smelly sneakers. Stanley thought it was luck, but it was the opposite and it lead to a whole world of trouble. As it turns out the sneakers were stolen from a window display for a fund raiser. The person who really stole the sneakers threw them to get rid of them. Stanley was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Stanley was convicted for a crime that he didn't commit . Stanley had a choice between jail or camp green lake, naturally he chose camp green lake. Camp green lake was once a thriving town and beautiful lake, but no more the town is deserted and the lake is all dried up. When Stanley arrived at camp he was assigned to tent D, Mr. Pendanski was his counselor. Stanley met some of the guys that where in his tent. They all had nick-names. Stanley's became caveman. Out of all the guys Stanley like x-ray the best. After the being introduced they all went to work. All the campers had to dig a 5'x5' hole in the scorching sun. the counselors and Mr. Sir the warden said it builds character. All the guys said you get use to it. After a while Stanley got a letter from his mom. Stanley noticed Zero looking over his shoulder. That's when Stanley found out Zero couldn't read. Stanley and Zero made a deal, Zero would dig a part of Stanley's hole if Stanley tough Zero to read. That is when Stanley became good friends with Zero. It didn't take long till everyone including Mr. Sir. When they found out they all criticized Zero. They said he was to stupid to learn to read. That's what made Zero run. Zero ran toward the big thumb. The big thumb was a mountain only to be seen in the right time of day when the were digging holes. The big thumb was supposed to have water on the top. Stanley couldn't stop thinking about Zero. So finally Stanley went after him. So if you want to find out what happens read Holes By Louis S.

Summary: Even in a serious situation Stanley makes you laugh
Review: This is one book everyone enjoys, adults and children as young as 7. I read it in a day and then started reading it to my second grade class. They always asked that I read more. The story helps children with listening skills, sequence and looking for clues. Not to mention how the book keeps them interested. Each time I read it to a group of second graders I get a new perspective on the story.

Summary: THE BEST!!
Review: Holes is one of the best books I've ever read, ranking even with Harry Potter. The plot is really interesting. I mean, did you think that someone would ever write a book about digging holes? Well, this book is.

Stanley Yelnats, (I like his name--If you didn't already notice, Yelnats is Stanley backwards) a middle-schooler and a member of a cursed family with absolutely no luck,is arrested and falsley accused of stealing a famous athlete's shoes from a homeless shelter. The shoes were valued at over $5,000. The judge called Stanley's crime "dispicable", and was appaled that anyone would be so mean as to steal from the homeless. The judge gave him two choices: "You may go to jail, or you may go to Camp Green Lake." Since Stanley has never gone to camp before, he decides to go to Camp Green Lake, a juvenile correctional facility. There is no lake at Camp Green Lake. It's just a big flat wasteland. At Camp Green Lake, Stanley and all the other campers must dig a hle five feet deep and five feet wide, in the hot sun. (At Camp Green Lake, the temperature hovers around 95 degrees in the shade.) All the while Stanley blames his no-good-dirdty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather for his bad luck. At camp, all the kids have weird nicknames, including X-Ray, Armpit, ZigZag, Magnet and Zero. They christen him Caveman. Stanley's counceler, Mr. Pendanski (pen-dance-key) told Stanley, "There's only one rule here: don't upset the Warden." Stanley makes friends with Zero, (Hector Zeroni) and only at the end do they realize how they are connected.

I loved the way Louis Sachar wrote this book. Her writing is extremely unique. It entrances your mind, and makes you think of many things differently. (You may find that the events that occur have to do with destiny.) I liked the book so much that I read it three times. I think that they should make a movie, but I don't think there could be a sequel to Holes. The way it's written covers everything important, though I suppose Sachar could write a book on the previus and later lives of Stanley's fellow campers. She could also write the story of Kate Barlow, an outlaw that lived 100 years ago who is very important in the plot.

Summary: One of the best books I have ever read!!!!!
Review: Holes is a great book for young readers to read. It helps young children realize that even if someone is picking on you, violence is not the answer!
Stanley was a very live character. So were the others but Stanley seemed like that average every day kid. This book really brought to life all the characters.
This book kept me interested and I could not put it down!!!!Every chapter was filled with new surprises!!!

Summary: My review on Holes
Review: Holes by Louis Sachar was a very interesting book. This book is appropriate for young adults. This book was about a young boy, Stanley Yelnats, who was under a curse and got wrongfully acused and was sent to a detention senter. There he had to dig holes. He didn't know what he was digging for but the camp director had the boys to dig because he was looking for a treasure. This book is very interesting to anything I have read in the past. It was kind of a mystery a little bit too. I didn't know what anyone was digging for so I had to try to figure it out. I have never read anything about digging holes. I knew about detention centers, but I never thought Stanley would have to dig holes. So that caught me by surprise. Now on my personal reaction to this book. It was interesting but kind of weird. First he is wrongfully acused, then sent under a curse, and then digs holes. Those are some of the big things that are important in this book. I also find those things kind of humorous but also very interesting. They all catch your attention, and make you want to keep reading to find out why all this happened. "You're not looking for anything. You're digging to build character. It's just if you find anything, the Warden would like to know about it." (pg. 27) I think this quote is the mystery to the novel. The Warden wants them to dig holes for a reason, but you don't find that until the very end of the book why they are digging. I thought the book was interesting but i didn't enjoy it that much. I thought there could have been a better plot to the novel than digging holes.

Summary: Up there with Harry!
Review: This is one of the best books I ever read. When I started reading it, I thought it was going to be some stupid youth violence book. It was fabulous! It's good for all ages, but it is a chapter book. It's got big type. For me it's real close to Harry Potter as being my favorite book of all time. It's a quick read, but I liked it so much that I read it 3 times!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent for all ages
Review: My 9-year-old granddaughter enjoyed this book so much. We took turns reading it out loud on a road trip from Colorado to California. She then read it herself and has since shared it with her Mom, one of her Mom's friends, and several kids at school.
