Summary: A must for all third and fourth year Med students
Review: Finally, a study aid for Medical School students by Medical School students. This book is extremely thorough, yet not overly-detailed, making it what should be a quintessential part of every med student's library. The authors, all recent graduates of UCLA Medical School(1998), saw an obvious gap in medical review books and filled the niche perfectly with this book that covers it all in a simple, straightforward manner. From obstetrics to neurology to dermatology, "Classic Presentations and Rapid Review" does everything I've ever wanted from a review book.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: Hey, did you all notice that the "5 star" reviews were from people in California who more or less said the same thing? Yeah, I thought that it was no coincidence that the authors of this book were also from California. I took a live review course when I bought this book simply as a supplement to my studying. I have to say that the bullet format and amount of information made for very loosely associated material. It's like going into someone's scatterbrained head. I say save your money, or if you want, you could buy my book for half the price. I hardly even used mine. A better book to buy would be "Prescription for the Boards" which you may purchase thru amazon also.

Summary: Buy this book...
Review: I can't believe these misguided, poor reviews. I used this book and one other to study for step 2. I scored a 238. I found classic presentations pertinent, comprehensive, and just right for a few quick days of study. I truly wish I'd had this book before starting my clinical years. Students hungry for useless detail would certainly be disappointed by the brevity of this text, but one must remember the intent of the authors, that is, to provide a precis of the "classic" or textbook presentations for all subspecialties - things the USMLE loves for step 2. And no, I didn't know any of the authors in med school, even though I am from California.

Summary: Five Star Review
Review: I found this book to be thorough, organized, and well focused. This book should be required reading for every medical student preparing for the USMLA, Step 2.

Summary: EXCELLENT
Review: I have read through this book while working on practice tests. I am convinced that reading this material is good for at least a 15 point improvement on the exam.

Summary: Unbelievably Bad
Review: I laughed at all the five star reviews and then wondered how much each of those people were paid to say such things! I am even more suprised that this book made it to get published. Please do not even think about buying this, you will be sorely disappointed. My only regret is not having run across this page earlier--they don't tell you this while you're in the med school bookstore, they just want to sell something to you. Oh well, chalk it up to experience. I hope I was able to help some people out there avoid making this disastrous purchase.

Summary: I Scored 228
Review: I used this book to study for Step 3 of the USMLE. I did not use any other study source and began studying only 4 days before the exam. The book was thorough but very easy to get through, providing me with very valuable knowledge. The proof is in my results: I scored a 228. If you want an easy way to get solid results, I suggest you get your hands on this book.

Summary: The quintessential study aid for med students!!
Review: Never before has there been a USMLE study guide of this caliber written by medical students for medical students. Thorough, concise, and articulate, Classic Presentations and Rapid Review is an absolute must have!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: SAVE YOUR MONEY
Review: Quite easily the worst Step 2 book out there. Outline form was skimpy at best and lacking in key information for treatment modalities, etc... You're better off studying your old notes from med school.
