Rating: 5 stars
Summary: utterly, frighteningly true
Review: Everything about this book is brilliant--the world it portrays is a bit foreign to me, but I recognize it. I found the way it was written just as gripping as the content.

I think this was the first Cooney I read and definitely the one that will always make me think of her as a good writer, no matter what she churns out (that doesn't mean I have to READ all that other stuff, though!) I think it's a shame that this one, which actually means something, apparently isn't read much.

Summary: A teenage truth
Review: For me, Among Friends, was an eye opener. It showed the relationship of jealousy in a friendship and how it can ruin it. I too sometimes get envious of one of my friends but it has made me realize that she can't help herself. It is more of a girl book than a guy book. But by going through the 6 person perspective, you become more alert of how people take things.

Summary: An Admirable Read
Review: Have you ever had a best friend? Jennie, Emily, and Hillary call themselves the Awesome Threesome who had always thought that they would be friends for life. Up until the fall of their junior year in high school, the Awesome Threesome had been best friends since they were little, and never left each other's sides. Ever since entering high school, however, their friendship started to get a little shaky. For Jennie EVERYTHING had to be perfect and she had to be the center of attention all the time, Emily grew jealous of Jennie's accomplishments and perfection but tried to hide it, and Hillary was struggling to keep their friendship together. Among Friends by Caroline B. Cooney, is a fictional book that has a theme stating that sometimes having it all isn't enough. While the disintegration of the Awesome Threesome was beginning, Jennie, Emily, Hillary, "supercouple" Jared and Ansley, and classmate Paul "Classified" questioned their own goals and limitations. Jennie's excellence in everything aggravated Emily and Hillary, ruining their passionate friendship. Everyone either got annoyed or jealous with Jennie, which forced her to lose friends and self-confidence. Jennie's choice to run away worried her "ex-friends." With all the mystery and secrets Paul kept and the running away of Jennie, the friends, in spite of everything, managed to stay close. They all realized they needed each other throughout the roughest times in their lives, which is the exact point the author tried to make. This was a great book to read, especially for my age group. Among Friends makes you realized that one should forfeit important things to make their true friends utterly happy. I give this book 4 stars for it's in depth sensitivity and true meaning of a long-lasting friendships. Teens who are struggling with friendships should read this incredibly enjoyable book to help regain strength in strong companionships

Summary: I liked it and I'm 20!
Review: I bought this book because I am trying to write teenage fiction and the books I've read on the subject say to read teen fiction so you can get familiar with the genre. Well, I still consider myself a teen anyway so I bought this book also because it looked interesting.

This book seemed very realistic. There is your classic overachiever (Jennie) and the two friends in her shadow (Emily and Hillary) who are jealous of her. I've been in their place with a friend who could just do no wrong. The book is fast-paced and enjoyable. I really liked the ending. This book could really happen!

Summary: Excellent Read!
Review: I loved this book because of the hardship of Jennie's friendship with her closest friends. I am gifted too, and I can totally relate to how she felt that everyone was turned against her. Even though I'm not in high school yet, I can still feel the foreshadowing of the hatred to come from jealous people. Thank you, Caroline Cooney for writing a book so close to home!

This book wraps you up, and makes you keep reading until you learn the truth about the Awesome Threesone, Paul Classified, Jared and Ansley. Trust me.

Summary: My favorite C.B. Cooney
Review: I think Among Friends is my favorite Caroline Cooney book because it's the one Cooney book that I can relate to the most. All the main characters, from brainy Jenny to fashionable Hilary, are teenagers, and unlike most the situations in Cooney's other books, in almost all the events I can imagine myself in them. From each journal entry to the next, Cooney masterfully crafted a tale of hardship, love, ambition, and other high school emotions. The one thing I would have liked better was for the book to have been in an impersonal third person omni. point of view, because all the 1st point of views were sometimes conflicting, leading to confusion.

Still all in all, it was a terrific book.

Summary: APPRECIATING FRIENDS
Review: I think that Among Friends was a great book.I think that in the beginning of the book Emily and Hillary were just bieng jealous of Jennie because she could do so many things that they couldn't do. I think this book teaches a lesson of not being jealous of the people you know because throughout the book everyone was jealous of each other. In this book I learned that you should never argue with your friends over the stupid things. This also teaches that you shouldn't try to force yourself to be the best because everybody will end up hating you and you will end up hating yourself and drive yourself insane.I also learned from this book that even when you're in the deepest trouble you can depend on your friends and family to help you .I also like the way that this book is written because in each journal you can see how each person feels and their point of view in every conflict.

I think that everyone should read this book.It might be able to help you if you have any problems with your friends.Maybe you can resolve the problem.

Summary: I loved this book! It was really great!
Review: I thought that this book was excellent. It was enjoyable because the characters were so well presented and the emotions they felt seemed real. This is a book about three girls who struggle through one year of high school trying to maintain their friendship. I highly recommend this novel.

Summary: This was A great book!
Review: I usually only read suspense and mystery books but when I saw this book I just had to pick it up. It was true and I could totaly relate to it.

I loved how the book was set up, in journal entries. I just couldn't put it down. I had to see what Jennie was gonna do, or I wanted to find out about Paul. Or how Hilary or Emily were feeling.

The only thing that I could see why people wouldn't like this book is because the journal entries, it could be confusing. But I loved this book and I hope you do too!
