Review: ON PULSE OF MORNING is the poem Maya Angelou read at the first inauguration of Bill Clinton as President of the United States of America. This little booklet contains only the one poem for which it is named.

It has often been said that Maya Angelou is a poet of the people and not a poet for writers. I tend to agree with this assessment of her work, and I see nothing wrong with that fact. I think ON THE PULSE OF MORNING is beautiful. Not everyone can be Emily Dickinson.
