Summary: The Girl in the Box
Review: WOW! This was definitely one of the better books I've read. It one of those books that gives you chills even after you've finished. It is truly amazing how something completely ficticious as this girl's kidnapping relates so well to real disappearances that we hear about today. I really like the first person perspective of the book; it helped you relate better with the main character. I could feel the desperation in Jackie's thoughts as she sat, wasting away, typing at her type writer, and I could also feel her frustration at the whole situation, how her life loosened a stone and went avalanching downward to the small, dark, empty room in which she found herself. Ouida Sebstyen really makes you think with this one as she leaves you to determine Jackie's fate on your own. The Girl in the Box is a wonderfully disturbing book that makes you long for an ending. I reccommend it to anyone whose life is awful and wants to know how much worse it could really be.

Summary: A great read for coming-of-age teen
Review: ~I first read this book at age 12, when growing up was very hard and frightening. Now at 18, I still curl up with this book on a rainy day to help remind me of certain things. How lucky I am to be alive, to have friends, and to have survived that stage in my life. This book takes you into the mind of one very frightened girl doing some soul searching as her end draws near, and as she figures out her life, you begin to do the same with yours. This book forces you to look inward to your soul and~~ begin to figure out who you are, why you're here, and what to do next. At this very difficult time in a teens life, it's important to look at themselves and ask these vital questions. Although saddened, by the end of this book you will be ready to look at yourself in a new light and begin the journey ahead.~
