Summary: despicably horrid
Review: I read this book about five years ago and I still remember how much I hated it. A girl, for no known reason, gets kidnapped and locked in a cellar with her typewriter and her thoughts. How often does something like that happen? Also, it just ended, and you just have to assume she dies, because her water and stale doughnuts are almost gone. This book was so incredibly stupid. I would not recommend this to anyone except those who enjoy boring, depressing stories that have no end.

Summary: I really good book
Review: I read this book almost 3 years ago, I was 12 at the time and it has a huge impact in my life. I really liked it but what about the end? was she found? did she die?
Anyway, it's a great book, it's awesome.

Summary: Mind-boggling
Review: I read this book in a matter of a few hours. I could not put it down. The suspense was all-encompassing and I had to get to the end. Once I got there, I needed to read it again to "read between the lines." This book leaves a lot the reader's imagination. It probably has different meanings for different people

Summary: Good Idea, Bad Book
Review: I read this book this summer, I read it for school. I found that if i did not have to read this book for school, i would'nt have finished it. This book, altough it has a strong idea for a good book, it doesnt have a climax. I also found it VERY unbelivable. This girl is kidnapped, taken to some unknown place, and writes letters to her parents, friends, police, teachers and also writes a story on a typewriter she had when she was kidnapped. I found it unbelivable because the last thing i would be doing is writing a letter to my teacher while i am trying to stay alive. I would not recommend this book to ANYONE.

Summary: Good book
Review: I though this story was really good. The author used her words excellently. You can feel what Jackie is feeling. From the very beginning where she is completely full of hope and sprit to the end where she comes to terms with what I assume her death. I have to read this book for summer reading and enjoyed every moment of it. When I first read it I was angry that you didn't get to know why she was kiddnapped, if she really did die, if she was ever found dead or alive, how her parents feel ect... But when I reread it I realized that sometimes life doesn't give you a clearcut ending. Sometimes parents never find out what happend to their missing children and sometimes the young do die. The author did an excellent job of showing reality of life.

Summary: The Book With No Ending
Review: I'll admit I couldn't put this book down. However I found it very pointless no closure and I hate that the author didn't finish the story like an author should right??

Summary: A very powerful work, especially for today...
Review: In today's society, very few books are left unresolved, butthis one is very special in that it leaves not even a hint of aconclusion. I found it very chilling, and have been unable to put itout of my mind since. I recommend this book to every reader of any age, as it's effect is extraordinary. Don't read THE GIRL IN THE BOX expecting an enjoyable time, read it because it is a masterpiece which will deliver a huge impact.

Summary: Where is Jackie?
Review: Jackie McGee has been kidnapped and trapped in a dark room with no windows. However, the thirteen-year-old had a typewriter and paper in her bookbag, so she begins her daily task of typing notes about her situation and pushing them out through a crack in a trap door. She has not seen her abductor since he first pulled her into his filthy van, but he has supplied her with food and water. We are just as "in the dark" as she is as to what measures are being pursued to find her. This book does have merit, but the notes do get tedious, and there is no closure, no completion, just no more paper. It needed something else to deserve more......

Summary: Amazing, Creative Story
Review: My teacher who suggested this book to me in 7th grade said some people love it and others hate it. I found to love it! Not only is it about courage and strenght emotionally it is about how sometimes life can change so suddenly. You realize that little things in life like having a bathroom or being able to take a shower are taken advantage of, and not untill you've lost them do you notice. All the regrets and never being able to mend fights. The story line with Zack and April who had been her friends was a tear jerker for me (maybe because i had a like situation)and just another story of life. Once I got past the very beginning (first 4 pages or so) I really got into the book. It's a must read!

Summary: This book is a waste of time!
Review: Never read this book. It is a waste of time. It was very predictable about the story she was telling. The book never fully concludes and it just ruins your day. You know exactly everything that is going to happen. It is boring. While you could be reading a Philip Pullman book, you are stuck with this stupid book. I hope no one ever reads this book. It is depressing and horrile!
