Rating: Summary: One of Those Middle Books Review: I really can not tell you that this is a great book. This Book was both interesting and very boring. At parts in the book it became almost too detailed, from that it just went on and on. Like when they were climbing the mountain it took two or more pages to describe each ten feet. But then again this book was good because it showed how it hard it would be if you were in that situation. Books like that are good to read so you get a different feel of how life can be. I like how there is something that the Father does besides work like making kites. I will not recommend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Reader from Orlando, Florida Review: This book kept me on the edge of my seat with its adventurous setting. When I started to read the book , I didn't really care for it, but when I got into the middle of it, i became very adventurous and exciting. If you want a good read, and love adventure, READ THIS BOOK!...
Rating: Summary: what is boring about this book? Review: I could not even read the whole book! I read the beginning, middle, and end. I believe many of those chapters could have been ripped out, and the book would be the same, but less boring. I was made to read it at school. The detail went COMPLETELY over the top. It took yep three pages to describe the climbing up a hill as a "family". It was also kind of sappy in places, and went much too far into the whole family life thing. This book is for someone who has a lot of extra time on their hands.
Rating: Summary: Dragonwings Sabe Me? Review: Dragonwings is an outstanding book because it tells the reader how difficult it is to live in a foreign country, be only eight years old, sail to America from China alone, and meet your father for the very first time. Dragonwings by Laurence Yep is a book that I would definitely recommend to anyone above fourth grade. This is the story of a young Chinese immigrant, Moon Shadow, who comes to California in the early 1900's to stay with his father and work in a laundry with other family members. It tells of their struggles as immigrants and with the new relationship between father and son. There are several things that make this book worth reading. First, the book keeps the reader engaged. When Moon Shadow and his father move away from the "Company" and decide to live on their own in a different part of the city where few Chinese live. The author's detail in letting the reader know how difficult it is to be in a strange place with new friends and plenty of people who don't like you. Milk, cookies, running water, and light bulbs are all new to Moon Shadow. I felt as though I was in each scene of the book. Second, it gives the reader a quick history lesson on Chinese immigrants in the United States in the early 1900's. Even if you aren't a big " history fan" you will find it full of information that you can't find in a history book. Over all my opinion of this book is EXCELLENT. I say this is a suspenseful book, but you may disagree with me in one way. The first twenty pages tend to be boring and do not catch your attention. After twenty pages the story picks up and draws you in. After all the "setting" details you get into Moon Shadow's life and the book tells of his day to day struggles. Not only is he in a foreign land he is also beginning a relationship with his father. It is very fascinating to read about Chinese immigrants and the difficulty they face in a new and not so nice place. I strongly encourage you to read this book.

Wind Rider is the father of Moon Shadow. Moon Shadow is a ten-year old boy who lives with his mother in China, but he sailed off to America and live with his father that he was seeing for the first time. Wind Rider had a dream that one day he would be able to fly like a dragon. That he wanted to learn how to fly. One day he made a flying a machine that lets you fly with his sons help, and they became Chinese immigrants. At first in the beginning of the novel it wasn't all that good because the story didn't really catch my attention. Later on in the book, I felt that the novel was getting more and more interesting as I headed towards the ending.

Rating: Summary: A book that goes on and on......and on ..and on...and on Review: For the first half the book keeps going on and on. It never stops talking.. And few of the chapters are about drugs, It is a good story but very very slow..and takes a while to get to the point.
