Summary: Don't put it down, it's a book you'll read over and over!
Review: I have started to collect Lurlene McDaniel books because they make me laugh, they make cry, they make me feel as if I know and can feel the characters, and her books warms your heart and soul. I don't think I can say one bad thing about her books and Angel of Hope is no exception.
When Heather becomes ill and her mother won't let her go back to Uganda; Amber, her sister, goes in her place. Amber doesn't want to like Africa and she pretends she doesn't until she meets Boyce, Patrick and Ruth. They get into a situation that really tests Amber and her values of life and friendship. Upon returning to the United States, she finds out that Hearther is in no better condition than when she left. Amber struggles with life and the harsh true that she might not see her sister or friends from Uganda again.
I strongly recommend Angel of Hope. It's one of Lurlene McDaniel's best books yet. Life has its ups and downs. Her books portray life as it really is, not how people want it to be. So, you ask why do you want to read a book like that when you are trying to escape from life's problems! That's an easy one. If you have a problem, read one of McDaniel's books to inspire you or make you feel as if someone understands even when it seems no one does. Angel of Hope was well written and easy to read. Read it and I gurantee that you will love this book. I hate reading but Lurlene McDaniel's books put fun back into reading. Angel of Hope is good for people of all ages. So get off the computer and go to the library and check it out. If you really want to take my advise, put it into your amazon shopping chart and buy it or beg your parents to buy it if you aren't old enough to have a shopping cart. Believe me, you won't be sorry!

Summary: Review for Angel of Hope by Lurlene McDaniel
Review: I personally LOVED this book and think it can be very inspirational to some people. A way to get you peoples out there to read it is to probably give you a summary so here it is (I promise it won't be too long). Heather saved a little baby named Alice, while on her trip to Africa, and feels very
close to her. Amber, Heather's sister, feels very cut off from her sister since she came back. Heather is already planing on going back with her mom to get Alice surgery, she has clepft plate. So when Heather gets sick Amber really wants to help her sister out. Heather's parents won't let her go. Amber suprises everyone and says she's going to go in Heather's place. If you want to find out what happens while Amber is in Africa read Angel of Hope. But before you read this book I recommend you read Angel of Mercy because it comes before Angel of Hope. Thanks

Summary: Beloved
Review: I read Angel of Mercy before this and I feel in love with the main person Heather, in that book I cried my eyes out. Then I read this one, it is one of the best works I have EVER read. In this one I also cried my eyes out more then the first one. This is a WONDERFUL book, a must read. The story is SOOOOO touching and heart felt. PLEASE get this book, it is a GRAND book, with a ending that brings hope as well a saddness for both Amber and Heather two sisters that are changed forever, as they meet there destiny's.

Summary: Returning to Africa
Review: I started reading ANGEL OF HOPE this morning, and it's a book I could not put down. This time, the book is about Heather Barlow's younger sister Amber, which is a nice change from the original.

After Heather returns from Africa, she doesn't feel like the same person she was beforehand - she saw things most people her age couldn't imagine, and she lost someone she loved more than anything. Amber is having her own problems, though, and she feels like nobody in her family really cares about them, because they're all so concerned about Heather.

When Heather becomes sick and can't go back to Africa on a new mission trip that she had planned on (and her mom was going to go along this time, as well), Amber decides that she has to take Heather's place. Amber thinks that she'll figure out what she wants to do with her life, and that the mission trip will be pretty easy. When Amber and her mom get to Africa, though, she realizes that those ideas were wrong.

ANGEL OF HOPE goes between the story of Amber learning a lot about herself and her time in Africa, as well as Amber's family being effected by the mysterious illness that Heather is suffering from.

Highly recommended if you like Lurlene McDaniel, or if you enjoyed Angel of Mercy. It's a tearjerker (like all of McDaniel's books), so keep a box of tissues handy!

Overall grade - B+

Summary: the most moving author i've ever known of
Review: I'm 13 but I have a very high reading level. The problem is , that often times the books that are appropriate for my age are too easy for me. But if i find a book that is challenging enough, it may not be appropriate for my age. But Lurlene McDaniel's books are perfect. They are exactly what teens like to read about. Although alot of her books seem like they're depressing because they deal with death, but they're actually insprirational, and deeply touching. The first book I bought of her's was Starry Starry Night. It was the first that I'd heard of her, but after finishing it, I craved more. I've now read five of her books, and almost everyone of them made me cry. They are so touching, heartfelt, poignant, and realistic. I plan to buy as many of her books as I can. Five isn't enough! Everytime I finish one of her books, its almost dissapointing because then i have to wait till i get to a bookstore or library next before I can get another one of her books! If you love insprirational,or romance stories, or especially if you can't find the right mix of reality, romance, and inspriration, then you MUST read her books!

Summary: Wow. What a powerful book
Review: In McDaniel's book, "Angel of Hope", Heather Barlow is determined to return to Africa on a Mercy Ship. When she falls ill, her only hope lays in the hands of her younger sister, Amber. Amber, who is not as excited as Heather was, begins to fall in love with Africa, and becomes good friends with friends that Heather met on her previous trip. But, Amber encounters a problem while she is visiting a friend's family. What will become of Amber? Read this book if you enjoyed "Angel of Mercy". It's really heart-touching and a tear jerker.

Summary: Highly recommended reading for teens and young adults.
Review: McDaniel has begun mixing spirituality with near-death experiences and this marks her second in this vein, following the experiences of Heather, who returns from a missionary trip to Africa grieving for a lost friend and ill, and her sister Amber, who reluctantly takes her place on the return to Africa to aid the poor. Amber must change from an aimless, selfish girl to a capable adult...in this second story.

Summary: Angel of Hope
Review: McDaniel, Lurlene Angel of Hope, New York: Bantam Books, May 2002

Reviewer: Cari Kidd
Lurlene McDaniel's book Angel of Hope is an excellent book. The difference in opinions between sisters, Heather and Amber after Heather's return from Africa is exciting. This book shows true love between sisters when Heather becomes ill; Amber takes her place on the upcoming trip to Africa.
Amber's experience in Africa was extremely exciting and death defying between falling in love and getting lost in the bush lands of Rwanda. The run Amber and her friends made was pure bravery and hope to keep their lives. Angel of Hope made an exceptional place in my heart with its love, danger, and hope. A magnificent book for anybody that likes dramatic and romantic styles of writing is Angel of Hope.
