Summary: After all these years Lone Wolf is still one of my favorites
Review: Gorwing up in the 80's and early 90's I had always been a fan of game books like Choose your own adventure, Advanced Dungeons, interplanetary spy etc. I first saw the Lone wolf books in a 7th grade book fair and my friend convinced me to buy one. I bought Lone Wolf 8: The Jungle of Horrors. After completing that book I was hoooked. I set out to purchase more books from this series, because I had very little money at the time, I only managed to add the following to my collection:
Lone Wolf 1: Flight from the dark
Lone Wolf 3: Caverns of Kalte
Lone Wolf 5: Shadow on the Sand
Lone wolf 10: The Dungeons of Torgar
Lone wolf 13: The Plague Lords of Reul
Lone wolf 15: The Dark Crusade
Lone wolf 16: The Legacy of Vashna

Soon after I really started getting into these books they stopped publishing them. Over the years the books I did have were misplaced. I am a lot older now and recently had a bit of nostalgia and decided to hunt down books 1 - 16 because I thought 16 was the last Lone wolf book. I soon found out that Dever actually had 20 books published in the U.S. I now have books 1 - 19 still searching for that elusive #20. I wasnt planning on reading them, I just wanted to collect them. But after deciding to read Book #1 again I was hooked all over again, I am now on book 8 and plan to complete the entire series whenever I can get Lone wolf 20.

In a world dominated by video games and TV, kids these days never seem to want to read anymore. When I was growing up, video games systems were just starting to come out and were many times too expensive for my parents to afford. Reading books and playing outside were my only forms of entertainment and I think it has done me well in the long run. Books will probally never be a form of entertainment for young kids these days as it was for people growing up in my generation. Who knows one day, books will probally be completely phased out. What a shame. I just wish more kids these days would see that reading can be fun, entertaining and educational at the same time as Joe Dever proved that to me.

Summary: Amazing fun, incredible learning.
Review: I read Flight from the Dark 14 years ago and became hooked on the entire Lone Wolf series. I could give reasons why I became infatuated but what I think is important is that I was 8 years old! To become an avid reader of anything at that age is incredible and I believe it helped me a great deal in my reading and writing skills. To become engrossed in a fantastic story such as this is an incredibly imaginative process that can only be good for any young reader. The age of video games and television has removed a lot of the really important developmental processes out of childrens' lives that these books can really give back. I use myself as an example because my ability to think creatively is attributed a great deal to Lone Wolf books. I am 21 years old with a degree and am currently working as a director and scriptwriter.

Summary: Still a favorite
Review: I read Flight from the dark when I was in my early teens. I was immediatly hooked. I kept following the adventures for years, then my interess moved on. Recently I found my old worn out copy of Flight from The Dark, and it brought back a flood of memories. It was like visiting a freind from long ago. I belive I left Lone Wolf at book 13 or 14. I got some cathing up to do. If you like Adventure and Excitement, Sword and Sorcery, and like to see what would happen if you made the decisions, than the Lone Wolf Series is for you, I highly recommend it.

Summary: A true collector's item.
Review: I was given this book fifteen years ago and have continued to collect all twenty since then, and I'm still looking forward to more. I believe this book can open doors of creativity and imagination for a child's mind, as it did for me.

Summary: Greatest role playing book series EVER
Review: I've read a lot of gaming books, and I must say that Lone Wolf is the best series of all time. It allows for character advancement and there is a cohesive story that carries throughout the series. It keeps you excited and I must say that I was happy when I had an opportunity to use an item in the ninth book that I had gotten in the first! The fighting is decently realistic and the skill development carries from one book to the next. Even the artwork is great. A choose your own adventure book is never as good as real honest role-playing, but if you're going to read one, this is it. I'd rate it an eleven if they let me.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: great for fantasy and role playing lovers
