Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Curiousity killed the cynic of Bronte Review: In high school, I never enjoyed Jane Austen and presumed to lump Bronte under the same category. I had skimmed through "Pride and Prejudice" and opted for the Coles' Notes version *grin* of the novel, operating under the sensibility that the book would contain nothing of value for me and avoided authors like Austen as I would the bubonic plague. However, one day, 3 years later, the title "Jane Eyre" caught my eye in the library and after perusing the introduction by Erica Jong which seemed to lure me even further, I duly decided to give it a read. "Jane Eyre" is a truly worthwhile, masterfully crafted tale of the survival of the human spirit. Despite the adversities continually thrown in the path of Jane, she tramples on, valiant and undaunted. Nothing can break her spirit - not the insouciance of Mrs.Reed or the loss of her childhood friend or the discovery of Mr.Rochester's lunatic wife - and in the end, she gains the happiness she has for so long been in pursuit of. I'm glad I decided to give Charlotte Bronte a read and expose myself to her enthralling narrative style and the overwhelming emotion and essential lessons contained therein.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Charlotte Bronte's 'Jane Eyre' is a Masterpiece of fiction. Review: Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte (1816-1855), is a tale of mystery, passion, and perseverence. The novel follows the life of the fictional Jane Eyre, an orphan from birth, as she progresses from a student, teacher, governess, to finally, a wife. Some of the events Jane experiences are based on Bronte's own life. Bronte began writing Jane Eyre in 1846. It was an immediate and thorough success upon publication in 1847. The writing is enthralling, touching, and artful. The reader cannot help but become involved and interested in the compelling story of Jane Eyre.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: An enthralling classic Review: Jane Eyre is the epitome of independence and success. Living in the nineteenth century was difficult for everyone, especially women. The conformity of their situation is shown by the author, Charlotte Bronte by the school Jane goes to. Despite the rigid life she was forced to endure, Jane started a life of her own. She faced many conflicts and difficulties in life. Fortunately, she fought and won the battle to realease the invisible bonds society placed on her. This was intriguing and well written. Though more applicable to females, both sexes will enjoy the underlying theme.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: good book but don't read erica jong's introduction Review: erica jong's introduction unnecessarily gives away too many of the twists and turns of the story. don't read it until afterwards (if at all)!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: This book is very romantic considering the time period. love Review: This is a romantic and exciting novel. However, charlotte is able to convey the feminist issue that plague all women in the 1800s and for many more centuries to come. Although, i gave this book three stars it was only because after i read the book for the second time did i get the whole idea that charllotte was trying to bring out. I think that if you read this book donot read because it is asigned to in school. Read it because you have some free time to devote to the book and then you will get the idea of the book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A beautiful classic! Review: This is without a doubt, the most romantic book I have ever read! Charlotte Bronte did a terrific job! Amidst the first hundred pages or so, I wasn't really into the book because it was full of lengthy descriptions and, I thought at the time, wasted words. But as I read on and got used to the book and fully grasped its meaning, I found that this was one of the best classics I had ever read! (And I am a BIG classics fan.) JANE EYRE made me shed a great many tears and touched me deeply. I am so glad I bought this book! I highly recommend this to all!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: My favorite book of all time Review: Each time I read Jane Eyre I come away with a different understanding about something in my own life. Even though literature has changed (they had no televisions or CDs back then, so the books had to go on and on), people really haven't. I see Jane as a strong, independent woman who, no matter what, remains always true to herself (not in a selfish way, but in a way in which she always feels confident that, in the end, even if she must endure some suffering first, she knows she has done the right thing and has no regrets). The love she finds with Mr. Rochester is based neither on looks nor money (a phenomenon popular then as now) but on her intelligence, her wit and her compassion. Her view of the world and of life is hopeful. Her story is a good example of someone who finds great happiness as the result of making good causes in life, who has the patience to endure the often necessary pain of growing up. Yes, the book is long and is not easy reading for someone not familiar with the style. However, reading a book like this represents, at least to me, the true joy of reading--of sitting down and taking time and maybe learning a little something about myself while I'm at it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent, It's an all time classic for all ages!! Review: I really enjoyed reading this novel, especially they way Charlotte Bronte captivates you with her vivid descrptions. She makes you feel like you are right there next to her experiencing everything she was experiencing. I also loved the whole romance part of it. How Jane never knew her love for Mr. Rochester was so strong until she left him. But then she came to her senses and went back to look for him. She still loved him as much as she did before, even when he was half blind, poor, and only had one hand. That's what you call true love. I love how Jane is such a courageous women to handle so many tribulations in her life. She never gave up and kept on living her life. I think Jane Eyre is an American Heroine for all young women.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A classic by an extraordinary author! Review: Charlotte Bronte's writing is poetical and her characters are well developed. Jane Eyre's thoughts and emotions are described in great detail. Jane is torn between her fear and her love for Mr. Rochester. Mr. Rochester's voice is both haunting and endearing. The suspense is very intense and the story is captivating!
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: this book was boring and dry. Review: this novel is considered a classic. I do not share this opinion. I was required to read this book for an A.P. literature class. Some people say I dont like it because it was long. thats not true. I have read books that have been 1200 pages. this book was simply terrible. It had no meaning to the male portion of my class. the only people that liked it were the girls. if you are a man try not to read this book. avoid it at all costs.
