Rating: Summary: 8th graders perspective on the book. Review: After I finished reading the Coffin Quilt i wasn't that impressed because it was just to much information. I like books that are intresting but not packed full of information. It was kind of like reading a history book for school. That is not what people of my age want to read today. On the good side the book was quick to finish and wasn't to hard to read at all. It was a true story which made it intersting. The book takes place in the late 1800's Fanny McCoy is the main character of the story. The McCoys and the Hatfeilds have been fighting ever since she could remember. The fued started in 1880 when Johnse Hatfeild ran away with Roasenna McCoy. The fighting is really affected Fanny's life she can't seem to think of anything else except the fight. Overall, this was a great book, just too much information. I would reccomend this book for someone who enjoys history becouse this book had PLENTY of that. Well read this book becuase you will learn something new about what happened in Americas history.

Once again Anne Rinaldi writes a wonderful and spellbinding story about a girl who is living in the earely parts of our history.
Rating: Summary: Another great Rinaldi classic Review: Everybody has heard of the feud between the Hatfields and the McCoys but very few people know what actually happened. You will finish this book knowing exactly what happened. Rinaldi certainly isn't slipping. This is a great book for Rinaldi fans and if you aren't one yet once you read this book you will be.
Rating: Summary: a really good book! Review: Fanny McCoy is at an election with her older sister, Roseanna. Then, Ro runs down to the creek with Johnse Hatfield, and the story begins! After he asks the beautiful McCoy girl to marry him, everything goes haywire. Threats, murders, and other frightening things happen between the two families, and it's all because of Roseanna and Johnse. Fanny is caught up in the middle of the confusion. The ending is really sad, realizing that nearly half of Fanny's family is dead by the time the story ends. But, if you read this book, you'll see how fascinating the feud was, and you'll learn more about Fanny's life. Read, and ENJOY!!!

Fanny must also decide if she will side with Rosanna and the Hatfields or the McCoys. Will she keep her promise? Who will she side with? Read the book and find out!
Rating: Summary: A great book with a historical twist! Review: Fanny, the youngest McCoy, has lived in fear of the Hatfields and has hated them for as long as she can remember. The fued between both of their families started back when the Hatfields stole pigs from the McCoys, and the hatred between them has brewed. Then, on Election Day in 1880, Roseanna McCoy, the prettiest McCoy, runs away with Johnse Hatfield, the handsomest Hatfield. The hatred spills over and starts a series of fights, finally ending with the McCoy house being burnt down, with 6 of the McCoys dead and one man hanged for a crime he didn't commit. The Coffin Quilt tells the story of the Hatfields and the McCoys, one of the most famous tales in American folklore.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Review: I have been a faithful Ann Rinaldi fan for the past 7 years and this is one of the best she has written. I live in Kentucky so it was really interesting to find out that something so tragic happened in my state. First the story is throughly researched, as all of Rinaldi's novels are. The story comes together beautifully just like the coffin quilt in the story does. Everyone should read this book it is very good. NCC Rules!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: a great book Review: I loved this book, although it is sad what happens to the family. It is about the fued between two southern families, the Hatfields of West Virginia and the McCoy's of Virginia. When the youngest child of fourteen is born to the McCoy family, the tensions bewteen the families are already high. Things get worse when she gets older when her older sister Ro runs off with a Hatfield boy. Things turn for the worse then, and there are many deaths on both side, but it effects Fanny's family the most. The ending is sad, but the book is good.
Rating: Summary: The Coffin Quilt Review: I read the Coffin Quilt for an assignment in Egnglish class. It was great! At first , it seemed boring and just a follow-up to Romeo and Juliet. But after getting further into the book, I realized, " Wow, this really is something!" The book is great with young narrator and the youngest McCoy, Fanny. Each chapter leaves you hanging with a little more suspense that just makes you keep reading it 'til the end. I would definitely recommend this for anyone: those who like history, romantic novel, or just looking for a good bokk to read over the summer.
