Rating: Summary: Dawn's friend's battle for a transplant. Review: Dawn is diagnosised with cancer. When she gets transplant she finds out that the organs given to her were those of her boyfriend's brother, Aaron, who died in a car accsident. It's really hard for Dawn when she goes back to school because she feels out of place. Then when her friend she met at the Jenny house and went to cancer camp with gets beeped to be prepaired for a transplant, comes to live with her, Dawn feels greatly relieved. Then they meet Jillian, a girl who needs a heart and two lungs. Then a doner for a transplant comes. The doctors had to decide if Jillian should get the heart and the lungs or Chelsea(Dawns friend who came to live with her) should get the heart.
Rating: Summary: The book was interesting and taught me about cancer. Review: Dawn Rochelle has been through more then kids here age, chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant, and the death of her best friend. Dawn just turned sixteen, and wants to lead a normal life in high school. She wants people to forget her past, and think about her future. Will Dawn's cancer return to scare off her lifr once more? I really enjoyed reading this book, because it let me see what it would be really like to have cancer. There was something going on, which helped the suspense of the story more interesting. This book was very sad one, and overall was a very meloncoly book. The book was fiction, but you have to wonder about real teenagers, the ones who are dieing everyday because of cancer. Lurlene McDaniel does a great character sketch of Dawn, really opening her up, showing the reader her hopes, and dreams. For example, in the book, Dawn lies in her hospital bed writing in her diary, and wishing she could go to th efootbal game with her friends. One of the saddest parts in the reading book, was when Dawn had to celebrate her birthday in her hospital bedroom. All her friends came, bringing her presents. Asthey left, all they talked about was how fragile Dawn looked, and they finally realized how sick she really was!
Rating: Summary: A fine, ongoing story of courage and struggle Review: Dawn Rochelle has overcome cancer and chemotherapy; now she just wants to be a normal high school student. But no matter how she tries she can't escape the shadows of her battle - and its effects on new friendships and old. A fine, ongoing story of courage and struggle.
Rating: Summary: This book lets others know how cancer victoms feel. Review: For a long time, I never knew much about cancer. Well, I guess I knew what it was, but not until after reading this book was I really sure how it felt. Dawn was a very courageous young girl. I doubt I would be able to deal with all she had to if I had cancer. I have not read the other books about Dawn, but I think I will now. A firend recommended that I read this. I felt every ounce of pain Dawn felt throughout the entire book. I like books that are so moving that you could not put them down. That is how this one was for me. Each night while I lay in bed after reading a chapter in the book, I wondered what was next for Dawn in her battle with cancer. If Dawn were here, I would tell that she is certainly the most bravest person I know. I am glad that I now know how cancer victoms feel because many of us don't understand half of what they have to go through. I think everyone should read this book!
Rating: Summary: Another great book about Dawn Review: I like this book a lot. It's about Dawn trying to fit in with "normal" people. She is also unsure about her future. I like it in the end when she speaks at the cancer center dedication and she realizes that she has a good future and lots of things that she can do with it. There should be more books about Dawn. She's one of the best Lurlene McDaniel characters.
Rating: Summary: Anything by Lurlene Mcdaniel is great Review: I love reading her books, she's a great author. She really understands how cancer people think and feel. And I should know, comsidering I am a cancer survivor. Dawn Rochelle is like me in a way, I also had a BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant). (insert from book) >> But no matter how long she stays in remission, Dawn fears that her battle with cancer will always be with her.<< This is very true. I have been in remission for 4 year, but I still remember almost everything and I will always wonder if my Leukemia will come back. Anyway, this is a GREAT book!!
Rating: Summary: What a great book!!!!!!! Review: I love reading the Dawn Rochelle series because they are interesting and they teach me about what kids with diseases suffer through. I really wish there were more books in the series so I could read about Rob and Katie's wedding and what happens the next year at camp- and what happens with Dawn and Jake at camp.
Rating: Summary: Tear Jerker Review: I read I Want to Live and Six Months to Live and loved them both. That's why I got No Time to Cry. Dawn is finally in remission, and for the first time in a long time she mgiht be able to live a normal life. The only thing holding her back is her fear of a relapse. I read it a long time ago, but I still remembering how grabbing the book was. I like the way that Lurlene McDanial showed Dawn's by Dawn's resistance to go to the group for cancer suvivors. The book was, in my opinion, wonderful
Rating: Summary: SO PREDICTABLE Review: I read this book because I had thought that it would be good, but instead it turned out that after about 2 chapters I knew exactly what was going to happen and my prediction was true. I would never recommened this book to anyone because it was one of the worst books I've ever read!!!
Rating: Summary: One of my favorite Writer Review: I think that this book so how kids feel after they finish with como. I know if I was in dawn shoes I don't know how I would handle some stuff she does.
