Rating: Summary: Summer of the Monkeys a review by Peter Review: Have you ever tried to catch a whole bunch of wild monkeys? Well, in the book Summer of the Monkeys Wilson Rawls the protagonist, Jay Berry, tries to catch a load of monkeys that escaped from a circus train wreck. Each monkey is worth $2, but one of the animals that also escaped from the train wreck was not a monkey. The animal was a chimpanzee that was supposed to be as smart as almost any human, and he was worth $100!!! One bright morning Jay was walking down the path to his grandpa's house. When he got there his grandpa told Jay about the monkeys that had escaped from the circus train wreck and how much each was worth, but the thing was that the owners wanted the monkeys unharmed and alive. At first, Jay thought that it would be a quick and easy way to earn some cash, but he will soon learned how hard it really is to catch monkeys! Jay went down into the forest thinking he could make friends with the monkeys However, as he entered the forest, all was completely silent. Then the silence was broken by the monkeys. As Jay got closer he started to smell something like whiskey. Then Jay saw them. They were hooting and hollering like a dog chasing a rabbit and drinking sour mash. When Jay walked up to them the big, hairy, wet chimp offered him a cup of the mash, but Jay screamed, "NO! NO!" That really did it. The chimp went ballistic. So Jay took the tiny, round cup and drank it. Then the chimp gave Jay another and another and another until Jay was so drunk that he fell asleep. When he awoke his perfectly good blue pants were missing. Now he had to go home with no pants on. What will happen to Jay when he gets home? Will this be the end of Jays monkey catching days? Ladies and Gentlemen, I encourage you to read the book Summer of the Monkeys.
Rating: Summary: Summer of the Monkeys a review by Ali Review: Have you ever wondered what its like to meet a real live monkey. Well Jay Berry Lee got the chance to in this book, Summer on the Monkeys, by Wilson Rawls. For Jay Berry's birthday he got an animal trap. He got this trap from his grandfather so he could go catch the lose circus monkeys and so grandfather could get the reward money. Also in this book, Jay Berry's little sister, Daisy, tells him that there is an Old Man of the Mountains. She told him that he was technically the leader of the mountains; in other words, he was the supervisor of the mountains. She also said that this Old Man of the Mountains is only visible to the people that believe in him. Daisy says he comes to visit her all the time. Jay Berry is so gullible that he believes there is really an Old Man of the Mountains. The climax is when Jay Berry finds the monkeys. This was a funny occasion. People have a way of knowing what's going to happen next. That's what I like about this book; knowing something weird is going to happen next. If you really like mystery books, I encourage you to read this book, Summer of the Monkeys.

Rating: Summary: Summer of the Monkeys a review by Tim Review: Summer of the Monkeys Do you like monkeys? I do, but if you do the book Summer of the Monkeys by Wilson Rawls is right for you. Jay Berry wants to catch these monkeys from the circus and the small monkeys are worth $1.00, but the specially trained monkey, Jimbo, is worth $100.00. So for all you monkey lovers, what do you think of this book now? The book Summer of the Monkeys is a very exciting book about a boy named Jay Berry and his wonderful companion Rowdy (who is a dog). The main characters in the novel are Jay, Rowdy, Mama, Papa, and Grandpa. One thing that makes Jay, the protagonist, unique is that he never gives up and he always goes to his Grandpa for help. There are two events in the book that really make me laugh. They are when Jay has to go find his dad's cow down in the bottoms and he gets freighted by Jumbo's howl. Plus I think that when Jay goes to look for Jimbo he finds them drinking sour marsh and getting drunk. So Jay goes up to the monkey and tries to coax him into them becoming friends, but it goes the other way with Jay getting drunk and passing out. He awakes find himself shivering all over. Do you know why? So now do you like the book? Also one more point is that even though Jay was frustrated and for one part drunk, he never gave up on trying to catch those monkeys. So... ladies and gentlemen I gladly invite you to read the book on not giving up, Summer of the Monkeys.
Rating: Summary: Summer of the Monkeys a review by Dylan G. Review: What would you do if you found yourself in the middle of nowhere surrounded by monkeys? Well, Jay Berry in the book The Summer of the Monkeys written by Wilson Rawls was put in a similar situation. The protagonist, Jay, has to catch a circus load of monkeys so he can fix his sister's crippled leg. One of the events in the story that caught my attention was when all Jay saw was monkeys. I think it would be cool to have monkeys surrounding you. I like monkeys because they are so smart and closely related to us. Another part of the story that caught my attention was when the monkeys got Jay drunk. The monkeys got into a moon shiner's shack and were really drunk. Jay has a plan to make friends with the monkeys to catch them. So when the monkeys offer him a drink he takes it thinking it would make the monkeys mad if he didn't. Yet still, after he thinks he is smarter, he is really drunk from drinking the sour mash. He passes out and when finally he wakes up, his pants are gone. This really embittered Jay. That was funny because the monkeys got him drunk. If you want to find out if Jay catches the monkeys, or if his sister's crippled leg is fixed, or if he finds his pants, then read the Summer of the Monkeys. I invite and encourage you to read the Summer of the Monkeys By Wilson Rawls.
Rating: Summary: Summer of the Monkeys a review by Dylan S. Review: What would you do with $160.00? Well, in Summer Of the Monkeys by Wilson Rawls the protagonist, Jay Berry, who lives in the Ozark Mountains finds some monkeys that escape from a train wreck that are worth some money. Jimbo, the smartest monkey in the world won't let anyone capture him or his monkey friends. Will Jay Berry capture them? Read more to find out. Jay Berry tried everything to try to catch those monkeys, but Jimbo just won't let him. His grandpa is a great help to the problem but none of his suggestions work. In another favorite scene of mine, the monkeys steal some of Jay Berry's apples and ruin some of his traps. Will Jay Berry get $160.00?? Will those monkeys out smart Jay Berry? I encourage you to read Summer Of The Monkeys by Wilson Rawls to see if Jay Berry will catch the monkeys or not and get the money?!

Rating: Summary: Wilson Rawls was definitely not bananas when he wrote this!! Review: In a world/era when it's rare to find a book that embraces the glories of childhood as well as a time of blissful ignorance as well as innocence, it's not every day that one finds a book like Summer of the Monkeys. Despite the relatively thick spine and "childish" cover, this book is extremely enjoyable for children of all ages. At first, I thought that it would be a bit TOO childish for me, as most 13 year olds think about almost everything directed for "all" agest but my curiosity and love for animals fell through and tempted me to begin what I never thought would be an action-packed adventure filled with humour and loving family ties. To both children and adults, I recommend this book with all my heart in an attempt to bring back the happy memories that we all faintly remember with classics like Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. Enjoy!
