Rating: Summary: superb and straightforward Review: As an English major, I can attest to the momentous amount of written work that one sees in college life, and I must say that I found this book to be immensely helpful. Cohen and the other brilliant people at the Yale Daily news put the "fun" in "fundamentals" as they lead you through a subject that is much less opaque than it seems. This book has helped me to not only write better papers, but to formulate all my arguments in a lucid and tangible manner. It's like scales falling from the eyes. One word: automatic.
Rating: Summary: You Need this Book! Review: Do I have to say anything more? Get this guide for writing college papers now! Justin Cohen's writing techniques are the best techniques I've ever heard. Sure, there are other books out there but there is only one that will make you laugh your brains out. Ok! I think I've said too much. Just get this book!
Rating: Summary: Very helpful! Review: I am not a college student, but I was struggling to handle the unmanageable number of papers that my teachers were assigning in all my A.P. classes. While the authors' approach was humorous, the book was really informative and helpful. I especially enjoyed reading the helpful hints from professors and college students; their real-life advice was practical and helped me establish writing habits that will be of great help both this year and next year when I go to college. Two thumbs up!
Rating: Summary: A fun and helpful guide for students Review: I bought this book for my son who is currently a sophomore in college. Before I gave it to him, I skimmed the pages, which turned into reading whole chapters, and I actually finished the entire book before my son laid eyes on it. The book is hilarious, as well as helpful. I definitely recommend it for any student who needs a little extra boost in their writing skills.
Rating: Summary: Wow what a helpful book! Review: I found this book very funny and very helpful. If you need help writing college papers then this book is for you. Highly Recommended!
Rating: Summary: Helpful Review: I like this book because it's easy to pick up and read the isolated and distinct chapters. If I'm having problems with research, I can look at JUST that chapter and read professor and student tips on that topic alone. I've enjoyed a lot of the creative insights and recommendations that the book suggests.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: I purchased four writing guides for my daughter, but none had the innovative approach of the Yale Daily News Guide to Writing College Papers. Because of the multiple sidebars containing interesting facts, specific professors' advice, and humorour anecdotes, this book was the first (and only) one she picked up. I see no need to force her to read the other three now since I've seen such a remarkable improvement in her essay-writing skills.
Rating: Summary: s'Marti Pants! Review: I reserve ratings of 5 for books like the Bible, but this comes pretty darn close. I have Page and the staff of the Yale Daily News to thank for my full point gpa improvement this quarter.
