Summary: Great book that everyone should read
Review: I know that Francesca's books are basically for girls, but I found this book quite moving though I am a guy. And her writing style just keeps you hooked to read more. I recommend this book for everyone, because it is great.

Summary: Wonderful Story
Review: I read this whole book at the book store!! I had time to kill, so I picked up this book to look at and I never put it down. I finished this book at the bookstore, and then bought it for my collection later on. It truly is a great book, and a wonderful story. It's very touching, and reminded me that friendships are very important.

Summary: Realistic yet like a dream
Review: This book was real. It was as if the author really knew how these two girls felt or she was one of them. She really seemed like she wrote this book out of raw emotion. She seems to have the talent of writing emotional books like this. This book really gives the reader a very good view at how the character feels. Confusing for some, but for others who understand, a very emotional adventure. I recommend this book for preteens and over.

Summary: Excellent quick read. Unique writing style.
Review: I *just* completed this novel after a mere few hours of reading. I must say that there is much more to this book than what meets the eye. I recommend it for all ages..especially teens and younger adults. I am a part time college freshman and high school senior.. an avid reader and writer, and found this novel throughly refreshing.

The writing style is as unique as the plot line. I enjoyed seeing the story from each girl's POV then a combination at the end. The story was unique. Having a knowledge of faeries, I found it wonderful to see someone writing about a girl who gets caught up in that fantasy world, just as most of us have throughout our years. Violet and Claire "remind me of me"..(quote from the novel)...

I remind this book avidly for all.

Review: I'm in middle school and just finished reading a advance copy of the book (it is older) I thought it was a great book and recomend it to everyone. If you like this book "Breathing Underwater", and "Violet & Claire" you should read too!

Summary: Sweet and entertaining.
Review: This is a beautiful young adult book... i am not a young adult (i am 21 and a college grad.), but this book was a very sweet read. It tells the story of two girls - both who are outcasts in their own way - and how they meet and help each other tackle life. I read it in 2 days, and it was entirely entertaining, andi highly reccomend it. I expected a lesbian undertone... and was a bit disappointed that there is only heterosexual/platonic loving... but it is sweet just the same. Besides, the hardcover edition is pocketsize and the cover art is beautiful - very cute. ENJOY this delightful, magical, frivolous book.

Summary: Not Just Kid Stuff
Review: Dynamite comes in a small package--you can read "Violet and Claire" in an evening. A fusion of art forms: the realism of a novel, the mythical feeling of a fairy tale, and the lyricism of poetry. Exquisitely written in a style that is full-formed sensual yet economical, it tells the yin-yang story of two alienated high school girls who find each other, "like shadow and light. . .Dawn and Midnight." Insightful. Sensuous images. I plan to read it again. Marketers might pigeonhole this is a teenage book, or a girl's book, but as an adult male reader I can testify that this book transcends pigeonholes.

Summary: Mezmerizing and Impossible to Put Down
Review: Violet & Claire became my all-time favorite book before I was even finished reading it. It's easy to connect with, which I did, on a very deep level. It was like this book was the story of my life, and the absolute description of me--I'm just like Claire, with a Violety edge. I also happen to be a very huge Toriphile (a follower of Tori Amos) and I was so excited when I saw the excerpts from the song Bells for Her!

The first part of the book is narrated by Violet. She talks about her passion for screenwriting, and about her life. She's dark, cynical, sarcastic, and different from other people, therefore rejected by all her peers. Then she meets Claire. The second part of the book is narrated by Claire, who is sparkly, poetic, pure, innocent, and honest. She not only believes in faeries, she believes she is a faerie. The third part of the book is narrated in the third person, both Violet and Claire. This book is the story of how their friendship was strong enough to overcome anything.

The two girls are almost metaphorical, the two sides of every girl. Every girl has an innocent side and a dark side. Violet is the dark, and Claire is the light.

Violet & Claire is classified as Young Adult, and I was a little put off by that at first, but I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't belong there. There was some sex in it, along with bad language, and a few drug issues. In my opinion, that only serves to make the book more realistic, but if you're thinking of getting this book for a younger kid, definitely think twice-- it really should go in the adult section.

In short, I would recommend this book to the teenage girl or woman who is not weak at heart.

Summary: A vivid account of two opposies
Review: A book in a category of its own. Fictional with a twist of fantasy. The story fixates on two girls winding through LA at the speed of light, creating a movie. Half told by Violet, Half told by Claire. The end told together tied in numerous knots ending the story abruptly leaving you wondering about how their lives go on.
