Summary: Violet and Claire is one of Francesca Lia Block's best.
Review: This is a really good book, it's beautifully written, and keeps your interest the whole way through. A good book for escaping into a magical hollywood land. I could not put this book down.

Summary: Great Book for teens
Review: This is an amayzing book. It is written almost as a screen play, which makes it very appealing.
This tells the story of two teen girls, Violet and Claire, and their lives. Violet is the dark one, dressed in black, dreaming of directing on the silver screen. Clair is the sensitive one, the poet, with guaze and glitter fairy wings on her back, believing she came from an ancient race of fairies. As the story goes on Violet get [pulled] into the life of a celebrity, where people hurt you, and you end up doing anything to try to escape the life you are living. Clair falls in love with her poetry teacher, only to have her heart broken. This story tells of how there friendship began, is broken, and then returns more than ever. It tells of real life, in the real world, and shattered dreams and yearning dreams.
The writing is wonderful, it is flowing, almost like a form of poetry. The story seems so real, and the descriptions are lovely. I would reccomened this book to teens and Block fans. This is my favorite book by Block I have read yet. I only wish it was longer.

Summary: One of the better books i have read this year!
Review: If I could give this book four and a half stars, I would. The way Block uses movie script format to tell the story in Part 1 then going to regular format in Parts 2 & 3 is unique. I must say though, it took me a long time to start this book and get into it. To me, it had a very hard, and some-what boring beginning. But I am glad I continued reading it. The characters are portrayed very well, in both realistic and fantasy ways. And they are not hard to relate to. The plot line is strong and it holds up all through the book. I recommend this book to older, more mature readers, as younger/immature crowds may not see the book in its true light.

Summary: Good but fairly dissapointing...
Review: This book wasnt bad, it just lacked somethings Block has in her other writing. It lacks the speciatly. Some of this book [made me mad], b/c the characters just zoom in and then zoom out of the story. I like the friendship between Violet and Claire, but in the beggining it only seemed that Vilet was Claire's friend because she needed someone for her movie. The ending of the book was ok, it never tells you if Violet & Claire become famous or not, so it just leaves you hanging. But now to the good part. The friendship between them is really great, and is what made me wanna finish it. Also the scenarios, with Peter, or Poetry teacher was really interesting. If you are a Block fan, this book is for you....(but it is not her best)

Summary: A beautiful, heartwarming tale of love and friendship...
Review: Immediately after finishing Block's Echo, I picked up Violet and Claire in hopes of enjoying it as much as I had the former. I must admit that, at first, I found it to lack the depth, quality, and beauty of Echo... while there are certain qualities of Violet's character that I adore and relate to, her lack of maturity and thoughtfulness irritates me at times. I found her, at first, to be too controlling, demanding, and arrogant. However, of course - as with any good book - I believe that she grows into a stronger, more beautiful, and mature young woman as the story progresses. I still much prefer the viewpoint of the lovely, thoughtful, and soft-spoken Claire... perhaps because I can relate to her character more. She uses her love for fantasy and poetry as a means of escape from her emptiness, heartache, and pain. Initially, I found the relationship between Violet and Claire to be a bit shallow, but when I thought about it, it did, afterall, make sense: They were both desperate for friendship, love, attention, and acceptance, and they found it in each other, and each filled the void inside the other. Though I was doubtful at times during the book as to whether I wanted to complete it or not, by the end, I knew that it was a truly beautiful story of friendship and love that I would not mind reading again. The relationship between Violet and Claire is heartwarming, believable, and beautiful...

Summary: Good Book
Review: I've read a coupleboks by Francesca Lia Bloack and I loved this one just as I've loved her otehr books I've read. The only thing that I didn't like about this book was that I found it a little confuesing at the end, but besides that, i was great.

Summary: addictive
Review: I started this book just to read the first few pages to see how it was. I knew that i had many other things to do so i said to myself, "just 10 pages or so." i lied badly to myself, I ended up having to read the whole thing because of how incredibly addictive it is. I loved the characters and i felt like i really got to know them. Some characteristics of both claire and violet just felt like the author was talking about me. I am definitely going to pick up all of Block's books after reading this one. i'll get back to you when i read them...

Summary: The Journey of Two teenage girls
Review: Violet and Claire is a wonderfully written book that I think should be read by all teenagers. Being a BIG-TIME fan of realistic fiction, I found Violet and Claire very easy to enjoy. Francesca Lia Block wrote this book in such a way that that you feel like you're going through their quests to be famous along with them! When mysterious Violet decides she wants to be a director, she goes on a search for her leading lady. When she finds Claire, you'd think, oh, well, this was predictable, but NO! This author finds a way to twist the story that you end up rushing to finish he book. As for the "Twist", read Violet and Claire, and find out what it is!
