Rating: Summary: GREAT READ Review: I thought this book was well done. You can make the arguement that Kate is Shallow but she is 15 in the book. Most 15 yr olds are shallow to a point. I think she was just worried about those around her not accepting her. I think this series was a great way to also give a general idea to the craft. I am not a Teen but I am a little new tot he path and found this book informative. I know what you are thinking, it's just a novel but I have compared the info with that of Wicca study books and Circle of Three tells you about Paganism in a true light. I couldnt wait to get to part 2. GREAT SERIES!! GREAT JOB ISOBEL BIRD!
Rating: Summary: Best book in the world Review: This is the best book in the world. Anything by Isobel Bird will have you at your knees begging for more
Rating: Summary: Didn't like this Book Review: I didn't like this book. It took to long to get to the point, and the main character, Kate and her friends in the beginning of the book, are too shallow. And Kate also cares to much about what other people think of her...The whole thing with the love spell was stupid. The test spell was stupid, too. Like any of those things will ever happen. If you wanna read good books about Wicca/Witchcraft, read the "Sweep" series by Cate Tiernan, or "The Secret Circle" Triology by L J Smith. I probably would've liked this book better if I already hadn't read them.
Rating: Summary: Spells For the Modern Witch (circle of three series) Review: Kate is on a mission looking for someone to help her reverse a spell that has gone off the wall. In this Fantasy Fiction series Isobel Bird bring out an intriguing mystery of three girls brought together by a magical book. All with their own style the girls Kate, Annie, and Cooper learn what the meaning of friendship and magic is. "SO MOTE IT BE" the first book of the CIRCLE OF THREE series brings to the reader Adventure, Betrayal, Happiness and love.
Rating: Summary: A great series Review: I really enjoyed this series (even at age 24) and so did my fiance. Kate did seem shallow in the first book, but having read the series, I was quite impressed by the way the character matured. The three characters--Kate, Cooper and Annie--are quite different from each other (the popular girl, the rebel rocker, and the bookworm) and so most people will find at least one character they can identify with. Although not 100% realistic, I'd say these are at least 90% realistic, and portray Wicca in an accurate and realistic light. If you're looking for supernatural horror, this isn't it. IF you're looking for a character-based series about real Wicca, you've found it.
Rating: Summary: This series is too good to miss out on Review: I'm a bookworm, and i've read a ton of books. I've read them all, Tamora Pierce, L.J. Smith, Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, Jane Yolen, Anne McCaffery, and J.K. Rowling to name some of the best. Of all the authors i've read, I'd say that Isobel Bird is one of the best. It's realistic fiction, something that could really happen, but with a magical quality to it. It's something that I think any parent or adolescent would enjoy this book and I give it 5 stars. I mean even my little sister liked reading it, and she hates reading!
Rating: Summary: Disappointing new series Review: The concept is good (the Sweep series by Cate Tiernan testifies to that!), but the execution is poor. The characters don't seem alive and there is far too much passive voice and telling rather than showing. Later books in the series might be better, but this one just didn't work.
Rating: Summary: Yay! I found a replacement for L.J. Smith. Review: I was hesitant to start reading this, for fear of not liking the writing anywhere near as much as I loved L.J. Smith stuff. It sat on my shelf for a good part of a year. Then, one day I had nothing to do (okay, except mounds of homework) and I picked it up. And I did not put it down until I was finished. I was very happy. Ever since I had used my bookstore connection to hear that L.J. Smith's next book was canceled, I have been looking for another wicca fiction writer who could stand up to my scrutiny. Isobel Bird does a great job here with the story of three girls brought together by a book. It dealt with issues pertaining to the craft and to life as a teenager. I look forward to each next book with anticipation of a good read every single time.
Rating: Summary: U Gotta Be Kiddin! Review: This book was terrible! Its about a stupid teeny bopper who decides to get the guy she wants w/ a love spell. Then every guy breathing wants her. Like come on! O, and then she wants to do good ona test, theres a spell for that right? No problem! Im sure it wouldnt make a teacher wonder that if a student that barely passes her class to get the highest grade? This book was just soooooooooo unrealistic.I cant believe anyone actually like this book! ...If u wanna read some good stories about Wicca/witchcraft try the books from "Sweep" or L J Smith's "The Secert Circle" I probably would've liked thi book better if I never read these books yet, ... ...if anyone still wants to read this book, RENT IT FROM THE LIBRARY!!!!!
Rating: Summary: This book is about Wicca, not a silly fantasy novel. Review: I am very impressed with the Circle of Three series as a whole. When combined with additional information about the Craft, it explains things in a realistic light. Don't get me wrong...I read the Sweep series, too. It just isn't authentic. People complain that this series is 'boring'. I admit it is slow at times, but LIFE is slow at times. This book is about personal empowerment in teen girls, about growing up, about taking responsibility for your own actions. I think this series has excellent moral value. Many of the other series have only entertainment value to speak of. Not that THAT is all bad...Circle of Three just isn't that. Read this series if you want to learn about how faith can help you get through tough times and become a better person.
