Rating: Summary: Don't judge a book by its cover Review: It's always been a sore point with me that this series had such garish neon covers just like a million other little thrillers, because the ordinary type of young adult horror is conventional and a dime a dozen, like R.L. Stine's thousands of identical stories. L.J. Smith is in a completely different league! The Forbidden Game is packed with jewels, from imagination-firing tales of ancient Nordic myths and runes to dramatic shows of sacrifice and unconditional love. This is not some generic cheap slasher mystery, it's a great fantasy that ought to be in every kid's collection.
Rating: Summary: So very very sad!!! Review: This is the 3rd and final incounter between Julian and Jenny and the saddest. The whole gang is back and along the way they recover the person who "died" in the first book. This is Julian's final chance to win the game and Jenny. They end up in what looks like an amusement park. The Goal: get past the games and get out. The Stakes: if they lose Jenny is Julian's forever (if you asked me i wouldn't say that terrible) if they win Julian will leave forever. :( along they way they encounter everything from a wizard who was once a person to the heads of the creepy guys who stole the game in book one. to lion drinking fountain that bites your hed off or in this case your arm.this time they aren't just dealing with Julian the other shadow men want jenny too. The end is a real tear jerker i was crying my eyes out and i never cry. You find out that Julian isn't really bad and jenny has done more for him then you could ever imagine.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books i've ever read!!! Review: These books (especially number 3) are absolutly brilliant. The plot is consistantly action packed and emotional. Most of the characters develop really well throughout the books and there is an obvious change in their attitudes at the end. The stories are a cross between horror and romance and some parts are so moving and of course there was Julian! I think me and the rest of the female population really want a Julian in our lifes after those books. I always cry at films but this was the first book i've ever cried at before. I sat in my bed at midnight sobbing my heart out but although it was sad it couldn't really have ended any other way and there is a small amount of hope at the end. If you haven't read this trilogy what are you doing!?! I read these in five days when i should have been doing revision but i was just so hooked. They are a must for everyone even if you don't like reading i promise that you will enjoy these books.
Rating: Summary: 'I am my only master,' Review: My favourite quote from this book. I love all the Forbidden Game Trilogy, but after re-reading them recently, I decided if I had to pick a favourite, this has to be it. #1 had the most intresting game and I guess the best plot, but this one win because it had all the best parts about Julian!(my favourite character.) Like a lot of L.J Smith's books, this sounds like a typical teen horror/romance novel, but it really isn't. In this last part of the trilogy, Jenny and her friends return to the Shadow World to rescue others left behind, and of course, meet Julian again, the evil (??) Shadow Man in love with Jenny. I found the ending to be perfect, though sad, and wouldn't want another book in this trilogy. Although I liked Julian SO much more then Tom,(Tom was the least developed main character in it!) (spoiler) I love this book and this trilogy, I really recommend them and also the 'Night World,' series by L.J Smith, though they aren't quite as good.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: This was a great book. A REALLY sad ending though. Although i respected the fact that Jenny had too much pride to give into Julian, I really didn't like her. She basically caused what happened to Julian at the end (trying not to tell). This was probably one of the best books that Lisa Jane has ever written, so it is a really great read.

Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: L.J. Smith is absolutely amazing! The Forbidden Game Trilogy are my favorite books. The characters are easy to sympathize with. They are all the kind of people everyone knows. Except Julian. He is too exotic and powerful to live in this world. I fell in love with him, though. I highly recommend everyone to read these books. Warning: you'll need tissues in the end.
Rating: Summary: The Ultimate Game Review: If you have read the other two, you have GOT to read this one! The characters play the ultimate game. The last and final one that will determine if Jenny will live on earth or live forever with the Prince of Darkness. It depends on their intellegence now. If they don't work together, they won't come out alive. I truly can't stand Jenny and wish Tom had died in the first game! Oh, woe to all fans of Julian!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: The Forbidden Game trilogy is not my favorite by L.J. Smith but I have to admit she does a great job. The game concept is neat but what really got me was the mythology. The nine worlds and the fairy tale myths, the runes. It was all very effective in catching your interest, and you can tell Smith probably did some research. Julians charactor is very well developed. In fact the only charactor I didn't think was quite developed enough was Tom but I've noticed that's L.J.'s flaw is getting the goody-goody guy characters well developed. They tend to be a little one sided. But hey, he's not the focus of the book and the rest of the characters and so lifelike you almost expect to look up and see them standing by your chair. So, there you go. Read the book. It's worth it.
Rating: Summary: I cried at the ending Review: I almost never comment on books, but this one I had to have my say. I own every one of LJ Smith's books (including the two that are out of print), and love them all. The Forbiden Game Trilogy was the first thing of hers that I had ever read, and I instantly fell in love with Julian. I cried at the ending of The Kill. I hope I can someday be half the author L.J. Smith is.
