Summary: the best of the three
Review: although i haven't read these in a while, i totally enjoyed all 3 in the series. it seems that it takes her about 4 years to write a book, so i'm waiting rather (im)patiently for The Keeping Place. The Farseekers i think is the best out of the three. i found that Ashling, seemed to go into a whole new direction, not one that i would have expected. the plot became to complicated, lets hope that The Keeping Place sorts this all out

Summary: The BEST!!
Review: I absolutely love this series. I have finished reading The Keeping Place, but my favourite has got to be The Farseekers because it is so action-packed and Elspeth goes to so many places. I am a fan of Isobelle Carmody because she is just an extraoridinary fantasy writer. I also fell in love with Scatterlings. I noticed that her writing got better and better with each book that she wrote, since she started writing while she was still studying. She has got a wild imagination, and while I'm reading, I think, "God, how does she think up all this stuff?". The imagination is where we'd all like to be, isn't it? I can't wait for the next book in the series! By the way, I love the new cover of The Farseekers- it depicts my favourite scene.

Summary: E X C E L L E N T !!!!!
Review: I absolutely loved the Obernewtyn series, Im eagerly awaiting the next installment, if you havent read her books then your missing out on something special. I also recommend DARKFALL the first book in the Legendsong series, It was great I loved it!!! I must admit Im rather annoyed, now Ive got to wait (again) for her next book, grrrrr!!!!!!I hope she never stops writting, Isobelle is so much better than that slowpoke Robet Jordan, Yawwnnn!!!!!

Summary: I could read it again and again!
Review: I agree totally with all of the other reviews, the Obernewtyn series is indeed a great one( I've read it three times). I also agree that The Farseekers is better than Obernewtyn (Although it is also good), and Ashling is the best so far (The Elspeth -Rushton bit was a bit predictable, but still an enjoyable to read). By the way I have heard that The Keeping Place is supposed to becoming out early Nov. this year. If you haven't read the series yet, READ IT!!!!

Summary: Isobelle Carmody improves with this book
Review: I am reading Farseekers now, and have noticed that the characterization and plotting have improved in Farseekers as opposed to Obernewtyn. I still find the grammatical and word choices distracting. Also, I would like to echo what another reviewer mentioned about the heroine, Elspeth having every possible convenience when it comes to her mental powers. It makes the whole premise less believable to me. Also, people come and go with too much convenience to the plot and not enough motivation. All this is very distracting, but the story idea is interesting, and it appeard that the writing level is improving. Hopefully the next book will be even better.

Summary: hooked on carmody
Review: I bought Obernewtyn and the Farseekers combined in one book. After I recovered from being blown away by those wonderful books, I had to order the next two, Ashling and The Keeping Place from Australia, because there was no way I could wait for them to be published in America. After staying up all night to read both of them, I am now impatient for the next book. This whole series is wonderful. More please!

Summary: Very Good
Review: I have read Obernewtyn and the Farseekers many times I think that they are both very good. (though Farseekers is better) I really like the charecters, and Carmody's writing is great. I would Definetly reccomend the books. But here's my problem, I live in the U.S. and I can't find Ashling or the Keeping Place(is it out yet?) anywhere! I really want to read them, especially since I've read the first two already, and, while not exactly a cliff-hanger, it's certainly not an end to the story. Anyway, if anybody knows where I can get them please send me e-mail at the above address. Thanks. Oh, by the way, if you've read the books.... My name's not my fault!!

Summary: Gripping!
Review: I have recently read the first two books of this series; I had read them a few years ago, but I hadn't remembered that they were this good! They both are a facinating story of a group of mentally gifted people, called Misfits. Who are penelised by the Council and various religious groups, and live hidden away in the mountains. The books takes place a few hundreds of years after what the inhabitants of the land call "The Great White", but is easily recognisable as a gigantic and devastating Nucleur Explosion. The Farseekers again features Elspeth, the highly gifted misfit. It continues the story of the growing colony of misfits, and a journey that takes a group of misfits across the continent which is patrolled by the ruthless Council soldierguards, the Religious Herders and a group of people previously thought to be non-existent. It is full of suprises, sorrows, joys and friends in unexpected places. The tale has several subplots, subtly woven in to the main story, making it a very thought-provoking and interesting read. The style of writing is decidedly different from other science fiction/fantasy writers, but easy to read. Above all The Farseekers is brilliant, witty, and absolutely Gripping! Don't miss it!

Summary: A great book after Owbernewtyn
Review: I thought the Farseekers was a lot better then Owbernewtyn. In Owbernewtyn nothing seemed to happen for ages after Elspeth was brought to Owbernewtyn exept talk about all this intruige about the doctor and Madame Vega, so I was a bit put off by this untill the end when the climax came within 30 pages of the end and was solved within the last 20 so I wasn't sure wheather I would bother reading The Farseekers. I am very glad I did though. The Farseekers is a very good if not excellent read, it shows that if you love and care about something so much you'll do almost anything to save it. You can see this in the case of Rushton with him sending Elspeth to the Lowlands right into the heart of the council to try and set up a safe house and sending Elspeth who by the end of the book he almost loves her. I think that it was a very good read and that it was time that the plot moved on into destroying the weponmachines instead of fidding around at Owbenewtyn. I liked the change in charecter of Gathalga. If you love fantasy with a difference these are the chronicals for you. I've just finished reading Ashling and I'm trying to find the fourth one, The Keeping Place.

Summary: Loved Obernewtyn, loved Farseekers, but where's Ashling!?!
Review: I won Obernewtyn in a competition when I was 15. I read Farseekers a few years later. I thought they were both brilliant. However, as far as I know, Ashling has not been published in the UK. I'm now 21 and sick of trawling round the children sections of bookshops for the final instalment! Does anyone out there know if it'll ever be published in the UK or where I could get a copy from? I'm at my wits end!
