Summary: The Car by Gary Paulsen
Review: The book The Car is a suspense and a mystery book that gets you into it at the very beginning of the book. at first the only character that you know for the first three chapters is Terry the main character who is a boy that is 13 years old. It is a very confusing beginning at first but you find out more and more as you go on. Terry is a single child whose parents dont pay much attention to him as much as they used to. Also his parents are on the verge of breaking up and leaving each other forever.
One night his parents dont come home and call him and tell Terry that they have had enough with their sspouse and will never come home again. so Terry thinks fast and remembers that he has an uncle in Portland and builds a car to drive all the way there. but i wont tell you what happens next on his wild and crazy trip to Portland.

Summary: The Car By Gary Paulsen *REVIEW*
Review: The book the car is about a young teenage boy whose parents are always fighting. One night it gets really bad. The next morning Terry wakes up to a quiet house, a few days go by and Terry doesn't see, or hear from his parents at all. After about three days Terry gets a phone call from his father saying that he is leaving and not coming home, than later that day his mother calls with the same message. Terry is abandon by his parents and decides to assemble a "kit car" that his father had in his garage. When the car is finished, he calls it the "Cat" and begins his journey from Cleveland to Portland. He is going to Portland to see an uncle that he has met only once in his life, he is the only family that Terry knows of. During Terry's trip he meets up with a Vietnam War Veteran named Waylon and he guides him his way to his uncle. This book is a lot about what Terry learns on his journey.

I thought that this was a very good book but I did mark it down a few stars because I personally did not like the narration of the book. I sometimes found myself asking which character was which and who did what. Yet the book although somewhat difficult to follow was an excellent book!

Summary: Armen's Book Review Service
Review: The book was very interesting and it had kept my attention throught the entire story. Gary Paulsen is an execelent author, who has written many great books for young adults. The story was about a boy named Terry who one day found himself in the adventure of a lifetime. If you are looking for adventure I would advise anyone to pick this book up and give it a whirl.

Summary: I did not like this book.
Review: The book, The Car, is a boring book because they drove places. This book was a boring book because they go places. but the places they went were boring. I can not relate to the book because I don't build a car everyday or drive around when I am under age. Terry met these two guys named Walyon and Walne. I learned that what you put your mind to you can do. You can do what you want to do, just like Terry who built a car by himself. I don't recommend this book for 8th graders because it is better for adults.

Summary: The Cat
Review: The Car by Gary Paulsen is a great novel about growing, rebellion, and America. The book begins in Cleveland, Ohio with a 14 year old boy named Terry. His parents, who spend all of there time arguing, decide to leave one another, coincidently at the same time - leaving Terry at home by himself. In his garage there is a little kit car of his fathers that he was forbidden to work on. Now that he has no supervision he decides to put the car together. Terry decides to go west with his new friend, he calls the "cat" since the car is a Blakely Bearcat, to see his only relative, his uncle. On the way he picks up a hitchhiker named Waylon, not by choice, a Vietnam veteran. Waylon is a "child of the sixties and seventies" and tries to teach Terry about "learning". They head to Wayne's house, who is also a Vietnam Vet and together they all three go "trucking". While "trucking" they learn all sorts of things about America, themselves, and each other. Gary Paulsen who also wrote The Hatchet, along with many other celebrated novels is an excellent author. He explains just enough to give the idea of what is going on, and leave the rest to the reader. Unlike some Authors who detail everything so much you don't even want to finish reading. For this reason I think that Gary Paulsen is one of the best authors ever. His books feel so realistic, probably because he writes from his own experience and has an excellent way to describe it. A possible alternate title that might have been better would have been The Cat, but that might not have caught to many peoples interest.

Summary: An intriguing book about gaining more from losing something
Review: The Car is a good book and you could say that it's about getting more from losing something. 14 year old Terry Anders's parents have deserted him, leaving him only an empty house and a half-built car in the yard. He decides to put the car together and go see his uncle in Portland, Oregon. On the way he picks up Waylon, a Vietnam veteran who will introduce Terry to some people he knew yearsago and from that point on, Terry's life takes an enduring and learning turn.

The Car is one of the best books for anybody to read, but especially teenagers. It's not action packed and it's not a mystery, but it is a good book, and after you read it you'll probably agree. It's a coming of age book of sorts that is filled with an interesting expedition of discovery. END

Summary: A really great read!
Review: The Car is about a fourteen-year-old boy whose parents abandon him and he builds a kit car. He decides to go to Portland where his uncle lives. He meets a man named Waylon and goes on the adventure of his life, forgetting his parents and his uncle. The Car is an excellent book and I loved it. Gary Pulsen was good at telling how the characters felt. Cat is the coolest car I have ever seen. It sounds like the kind of car I would want . I have read My Side Of The Mountain. It was about a boy who goes on a adventure, but I think the Car was much better. The book is suspenseful and it feels like you know the characters. It was the best book ever. The Car is very easy to understand. Over all it was a good book for young adults.

Summary: A book named The Car
Review: The Car was a fantastic book about a fourteen-year-old boy, Terry, who's parents both left him at the same time. His dad was a mechanic and had a kit car that was just sitting in the garage. Terry decides to put the kit car together and go driving west to see if he can find his uncle. During the trip he meets Waylon and Wayne. These two people are friends with each other and teach Terry to go trucking for the purpose of learning new things. Waylon rides with Terry in the kit car and Wayne rides his Harley, which he calls Baby. The three people take turns deciding the next place to go and learn new things. The character of Terry is a very strong willed boy who is determine to do whatever he sets his mind to but his parents could care less about him. Waylon and Wayne, who are good friends, are Vietnam veterans who enjoy fighting and learning. Wayne is an artist and a mechanic and Waylon is a homeless guy who just hitchhikes around the U.S. and gets his money from playing poker. I think this book was pretty good but it didn't have that much of a plot. The only odd thing about this book is that it really has no ending because Terry never goes to see if he can find his uncle after he starts trucking with Waylon and Wayne. I recommend this book if you just want to sit down and read something one Saturday afternoon.

Summary: The Car was a cool book
Review: The Car was about a boy that gets abandoned because his parents fight all the time. Then Terry builds a car and wants to drive to Oregon to see his uncle. On the way he picks up some interesting characters. I liked this book because it was an adventure and had some drama parts too. Also the book had some points that one of the characters have flashbacks or memories about his time in Viet Nam. Terry travels to many differnt places like to South Dakota and Nebraska. From the characters he picks up Terry is learning history and adventures that happend a long time ago. I gave this book three stars because this book is full of adventure and some drama. I recommend this book to anybody who liks adventure and drama.
