Rating: Summary: About The Car Review: I liked the book The Car by Gary Paulsen. The book talked about a lonely kid named Terry Anders who's parents split up and left. So Terry starts to build his dad's car and fix it up. When he fixes the car he leaves to find his Uncle out west. It is a great book for a person who likes cars or for a person who likes life on the road. I would recommend anyone to read this book. I thought the book had a great beginning and an alright ending.
Rating: Summary: The Car was a good book. Review: I liked the book The Car. It was very interesting . I thought it was neat how a 14 year old boy named Terry made a Kit car without knowing anything about cars. Terrry went on an adventure. It didn't relate to me at all, but it was still a good book. Terry learned alot of things. I would recommend that this book should not be read by younger kids, it was written for adults.
Rating: Summary: The Car should be read by older kids and adults. Review: I liked The Car because they travel aound the country. They had some interesting adventures. This kid builds a car. After his parents left him. Then he met an old Vietnam veteran. They went to the old person's friend's house. They have fun and the go trucking. I recommend this book to older kids and adults.

Rating: Summary: A good book for those who like Paulsen. Review: I really enjoyed this book, although I liked several of the author's other books better, especially "Hatchet" and its series. This book was an adventure, and made me think about the world and how at my age (13) there is a lot to learn, but also a lot of possibilities. Paulsen has a good way with detail, and really makes you think about what you would do in the situation the character is in. Anyone who enjoyed Paulsen's adventure/survival books will like this book as well.
Rating: Summary: Muzza's Review Review: I think the book was ok but it needed a bit more action in it. Some parts of it were ok but others were a bit hard to understand. One good thing about this book is that itdoesn't start of slow.
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: I think this was a very good book. I don't think it was good for kids though, as a lot of language was used that is not appropriat for kids.
Rating: Summary: Great action book. Review: I thought that this book is a great book. THE CAR was very easy to read. It is a great book to read on a rainy day. It is, as they say, "easy reading." In this book Terry Anders lives in Cleveland, Ohio. He lives mostly by himself because his parents fight all of the time and they are never around. He actually loves it because it gives him a chance to think for himself and not get really bossed around by his parents. One time, after his parents had one of their worst fights ever, they both left. One parent called him and told him that they were never coming to see the other spouse ever again. Then the other parent called and said the same thing. He tried to think of any relatives that he knew of but he couldn't. Finally he thought of one uncle he met one time when he was much younger. That uncle lived in Portland. He couldn't think of any way to get to Portland. While he was looking in his garage he found a car kit somewhat put together. Not all of it, though. He decided to put the rest of it together and get as far west as he can. He also finds instructions to putting together the car. He finally after like one or two weeks he puts together "The Cat." "The Cat" is what he call the car. He sets a date of leaving for Portland or as far west as he can. The day finally comes and he was off. He starts downs the highway and everything was going great. It turns to be night and he decides that the best thing is to go off of the road and sleep. One problem, it starts to rain. He puts up a tarp to protect himself from the rain. While he was sleeping, a man comes up to the car and asks for a ride. Terry reluctantly says yes. This man is named Waylon. Waylon is a Vietnam veteran who likes to recite Shakespeare. The rest of the book talks about journeys that Waylon and Terry have on the road trying to get to Portland. I would recommend this book to all who like to read action books and also like to read something that gets you involved very easily.
Rating: Summary: The Car-The best book by Gary Paulsen Review: If you are looking for a good, suspenseful, and adventurious novel to read, THE CAR by Gary Paulsen is a perfect book to read. Terry Anders is a normal 14 year old, although his parents fight a lot. Life is going good until his parents desert him in another of there fights. Sadly each parent doesn't know that the other isn't coming back to watch him. In a past business deal, Terry puts together a Blakely Bearcat (kit car) that his dad owned. Terry fnishes the car and decides to head out west to find an uncle he doesn't really know. On his way he picks up a Vietnam vet(Waylon), along with his friend (Wayne). Both of them teach Terry about trucking and other bits of information to help him travel across the continent. I would recommend this book to anyone because it was a really good, adventurious book.
Rating: Summary: Jerry and Angela review The Car Review: It can be tough when you are abandoned by both of your parents because of their arguing. For example, this situation is similar to the book The Car. We think this is an interesting book because it relates to real life. In the beginning, Terry Anders is left home alone by his parents, without a doubt if they will return or not. Put yourself in his situation and think of what you would do. His father was a mechanic and left behind a car kit. So he builds himself a car, and when he finally finishes the car, the real adventure starts. He decides to go to his uncle's house in Portland. That's where the book gets interesting. You'll just have to read the book to find out the ending of this great book.
