Rating: Summary: Absolutly fabulous! Review: I love all of Lurlene McDaniels books. But I thought this one was one of the very best. It was not as predictable as some of her other books. But in this one, just like all of her books, I cried.
Rating: Summary: One Of L. McDaniel's BEST!, Review: This is by far one of the most touching, and heartwarming books that Lurlene McDaniel has ever written. It really lets you know what it is like to have cancer. L. McDaniel is my all time favorite author. I am starting to read the other books about Dawn know and im sure they will be as good as this one!
Rating: Summary: this is a must read book! Review: six months to live is probally my favorite book.it tells the storie of a girl with lukemia.it shows her struggle of hospitals,IV's,pain and the hurt of loosing a friend .its a very good book!
Rating: Summary: I thought the book was great. Review: I like the book Six Months To Live because it tells how Dawn handles cancer. She really handles it well. She had leukemia which is cancer. When Dawn was in the hospital Dawn meets a girl named Sandy. They did everything together in the hospital. I really like this book because it would probably be good for kids that have cancer. I'm not trying to be rude, but it was just a suggestion. But other people can read it, too. The only part I didn't like was when Sandy passed away. Dawn had been out of the hospital a couple months. But in that time they wrote each other and sent gifts to each other, too. Then Dawn got a letter from Sandy's parents saying: Dear Dawn, Sandy passed away today. It was sad. I'll miss her. Dawn went downstairs and told her mom. I think the book was wonderful. It was great!
Rating: Summary: It showed how quickly life can be flipped upside down. Review: You never know what you have until you don't have it anymore. Well in this book a teenage girl learns exactly what that means. Six Months to Live by Lurlene McDanial is set in Columbus, Ohio. It is the story of a young girl's faith and courage during what doctors say will be her last six months of life. THe main character, Dawn Rochelle, is confirmed to have leukemia. Before long , she meets a roommate , Sandy, who also has leukemia. Together they join forces to battle their common disease. They go through chemotherapy which makes them nauseated and lose their hair. Throughout the book Dawn gains emotional and physical strength. Soon Sandy is allowed to go home. Then a couple weeks later Dawn also goes home. They remain the best of friends. She then gets a phamphet from Joan, one of the nurses about a cancer camp. She and Sandy decide to meet their. Thay have a wonderful time. But when they get home something happens and Dawn loses a part of her life. What is it? You'll have to catch the book to find out. This book shows how fragile life really is. How quickly life can be flipped upside down. It reminds us not to take our life or people we care for for granted. Not to waste time sulking over what you didn't do in the past because everyone knows you can't change the past. The book also show how much faith and belief in herself one girl can have and how that can help in facing difficult times in opur life. The author also has a good technique in turning serious situations into reality for people who may not know anything about the subject.
Rating: Summary: Cancer can kill prople. Review: Dawn is a very average girl who goes in for a check up, and they diagnosis her with cancer. She meets a great friend who has also been diagnosed. Both girls go through a lot with their cancer. They both finally achieve remission and go home and try to live a normal life.... I like this book and hope others will read it too. As I read these books, it helped me think about what a privilege it is to be healthy and alive!
Rating: Summary: My finest hour Review: I must say to all of the people who's hearts this book touched, you are truly blessed. I wrote this as a window into the lives of a dying teenager, and it has become so much more, in fact, a four part series. Thank you to all of the "Dawn's out there, and live your life to it's fullest, and if you find someone you can possibly love, whether he (or she) be dying of Cancer, Diabetes, or even just having a physical or learning handicap of any kind, hold on to that love, and never let go, because when you only have six months to live, you will regret losing it.
Rating: Summary: cancer; it could happen to anyone Review: my name is rachel and one day i just got this book at the library. when i started reading, i couldn't put it down. so i read the rest of the quartet. i loved it. because of lurlene mcdaniels' hard hitting novels, i know have my heart set on being a pediatric oncologist. it is sad in some parts of the book, but it gives you hope so you can press on and have courage. i suggest lurlene mcdaniels' books to anyone. i now have every one of her books that are available in stores. if anyone knows lurlene, please tell her thanks for me.
Rating: Summary: A Good Book Review: Six Months To Live is the coolest book in the world, I think Lurene McDaniel is a good writer. But I think Six Months To Live is the best so far, that I have read. I recomend it to whoever likes to read about cancer and stuff like that.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Books written by Lurlene McDaniel! Review: This is a great story of hope. As Dawn Rochell fights against lukemia for her life she makes a lasting friendship with Sandy. When they go to a cancer camp they have the time of their lives and meet two unforgetable boys, Greg and Mike. After they go home from cancer camp all is well, until Sandy comes out of remission and Dawn learns what it is like to love and loose. This was one of the best and saddest books I've ever read. I highly recommend it.
