Summary: Breath Taking
Review: My Cousin, Cindy, has read all of Lurlene McDaniel's books, she loves the inspirational stories told in them. However, a couple of years ago she started feeling ill, tired, and also recieved bruises from the lightest of hits. She was a cheerleader so she recieved alot of them. I gave her this book to read while she was staying home and she was worried when in the book Dawn found out she had cancer from the exact same symptoms that my cousin was going through. She encouraged her parents to take her to the doctor and found out she had a rare case of Luekemia, she quickly went into the cancer hospital and has been in remission for two and a half years. I have just gotten done reading the book and want to encourage other children to read these books because of my cousin's story. I have also got a lot to worry about because we have a severe case of cancer in our family, so Lurlene McDaniel's books help my cousin and I out alot knowing that at least one adult knows how us kids can feel since our friends don't really know anything about cancer.

Summary: Books don't get much better than this
Review: This is truly an amazing book. Dawn Rochelle, an ordinary thirteen-year-old girl who has never been sick a day in her life is diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia, a form of cancer. Dawn is placed in the hospital where she receives her dreaded chemotherapy treatments and disgusting hospital food, where she meets Sandy . . . her new best friend. Sandy is Dawn's roommate and also suffers from leukemia. Together, they experience cancer and it's effects on the body and the mind. Dawn and Sandy attendcancer camp together, where they meet Greg and Mike, friends, beaus, and "big brothers" to them. All is well until tragedy strikes after their return from camp. I couldn't believe how well this book is written. All of the characters are extremely well developed, especially Dawn. The plot is good, with twists and surprises. If you like this book . . . and you will like it if you read it . . . be sure to read the four sequels, I Want To Live, So Much To Live For, No Time To Cry, and To Live Again. They are just as well written as this one. Thank you, Lurlene McDaniel for days of non-stop reading and pleasure. Keep up the good work!

Summary: A Surprise Book
Review: " Ranae how about this one."
That was what my grandma said. I didn't really want it but what could I possibly say.
"Yeah, sure. That one looks great."
That's all I could say. I mean it looked like the most boring book ever. What kind of title is Six Months to Live? It sounds like a murder story. I took it home and threw it on my bed. I decided I wasn't going to read it and tell my grandma it was a good book. Yet some part of me wanted to pick up the book and start reading. Fortunately, I did. The next time I looked at the clock was when the book was finished. Two hours.
This story is a very touching book. She thinks no one likes her because of her leukemia. When she got diagnose she was shocked. At her age of thirteen. it would be very hard. Her brother's words kept her going...."I will love you no matter what." She remembered those words through all the operations and all the shots.
This book is also very sad. Ever sense her terrible disease, she has felt like a nobody. A nothing. A shadow in a damp and lonely corner.
Determination makes this book like no other. When she almost died, it broke her families' hearts, literary. Yet, through it all, she heard her brother.
" Don, Don, Don. Don't go Don."
That was her only inspiration. Her only reason to live.
When she went in remission, ir was so exciting. It was almost as if I were there in the room reading the slip of paper that said REMISSION.
My favorite part of the book was when she met her best friend, Sandy. Sandy helped her through a lot of things. They talked every day about leukemia. The trouble. They day dreamed together about when and if they went in remission. The thing I thought was unbelievable was that her brother's voice kept her alive. I learned to use a lot of cliffhangers when I write. I couldn't help but keep reading when theirs a cliffhanger in the book. I wonder if Don will stay in remission.
Six Month to Live is a terrific book that is touching, sad, exciting, and it contains determination all in one. It would be great movie. You could see the characters. I would most likely cry.
"Here's the book, grandma. It was great!"
"I'm glad you liked it. Do you want to get the sequal?"
"Sure, sounds great."
That time when I said it, I really meant it. I couldn't wait to see what happens next.
On the way to the library to return to book, I started to read it again. When we got there I told my grandma to keep going because I wasn't done with the book.
"I thought you said you finished it and you really liked it," my grandma sounded shocked.
"I did, but I wanted to finish it again."
My grandma just laughed and said she might have to read it herself. She never did.

Summary: The reason I like this book.
Review: I would recommend Six Months To Live by Lurlene McDaniel to all teenagers. I thought that this book was wonderful because it talks about a teen who finds out that she has leukemia. This can help teens today by knowing how to treat leukemia and how long it takes. Sometimes it doen't help to get put in the hospital to treat it and the teens should know how to act. Those who do have luekemia should know how it is going to come out like so I think that while they are waiting they should read this book to get an idea of luekemia. Luekemia is in my family and I would really like it if others would read this and understand how life really is with cancer in the world.

Summary: Six Months to Live
Review: I recommend this book to mostly girls in the age range of 12 and up because of the frightening events that happen to Dawn and her friend Sandy throughout the book. This is also a good book for people who are interested in medicine and like drama and "cliff hanger" books that make you want to read on. For example, Sandy sent a letter to Dawn when she went back into the hospital, in Mexico, for cancer again. Now Dawn has to face a terrible fact that she might someday loose Sandy. After receiving the letter from Sandy, Dawn sat down and wrote a letter "...filled with dismay, sympathy and hopefulness that things would change for Sandy". This book is also very educational. As the book goes on, you go with Dawn on a journey learning about cancer and medicine. " Leukemia is the most common case of cancer in children." In conclusion, if you are interested in medicine and or like drama then you will definitely like Six Months to Live.
