Rating: Summary: This was a FUN book to read Review: This is a fiction, first of all, so total reality is impossible (and who wants total reality anyways, if it was totally realistic the whole premise would be shot and there would be no Downriver). Second I have rafted the Grand Canyon , private, 3 week trips, 3 times and I thought his desccription of the river and rafting were very accurate. This was an adventure book yes but it was also a revelation of strength and the art of getting along wich is sometimes hard to master. I also highly reccomend it's companion River Thunder.
Rating: Summary: A-W-E-S-O-M-E Review: I am 14 years old, and matter of fact, I just finished reading "Downriver" no less than 2 hours ago! It took me about 3 days to read, it usually takes me longer, just because I am never intersted in the book, and most of the time i don't even finsh reading most of the books I read! This book was totally different. I couldn't put it down. The characters are so real and the way things just fell into place made the story that more exciting. I am not a big fan of these kind of books, but when I started reading it, I knew after the 1st chapter that it would be a book that i know i will never forget! hope i made sense! thank you
Rating: Summary: Jesse, a girl going through a tough time, decides to break t Review: Jesse, a girl going through a tough time, decides to break the rules. This book was fast-paced and great to read and just when things go back to normal the story takes one surprising turn after another. The kids are on the Colorado River and they never know what will happen next. The conflict is between the kids and the adults trying to find them, and whether they should give up. Will they? If you read this book you will find out. The book is packed full of adventure, thrill, and on the edge of your seat action.
Rating: Summary: Downriver Review: If you like action-packed adventure and the outdoors readDownriver. Will Hobbs wrote this book about juveniledelinquents pirating the Grand Canyon. Although the book was enjoyable, it seemed to drag on about certain aspects, such as, going down the rapids. He could have written more about adventure.
Rating: Summary: teens ditch their guide for a real water rafting experience Review: Eight teens ditch their leader and set out to ride the rapids of the Grand Cannyon. They "borrow" some equipment and have the time of their lives. This story is an compelling adventure with many twists and turns. The reason for my "less than perfect" rating is for the use of poor character dynamics. Hobbs shows many situations of Jessie, the main character, but never shows her true personality. Her character is very thin and I was not completly engaged in the book because of this. All of this does not mean that this book was not great. Hobbs was trying to make the characters more real, but didn't quite make it.
Rating: Summary: A Great book to read! Review: Will Hobbs book, Downriver, focus' on a group of teenagers put in a system the lovingly call Hoods in the Woods, or Discovery Unlimited. Each one is there for their own reasons, and are trying to find themselves. This book is definitly a great read. I recomend it for teenagers and young adults
Rating: Summary: Amazing story... edge-of-your-seat plot... Jessie is great.. Review: I loved this book, along with River Thunder. The characters are great, I feel like I am right with them. Jessie's feelings are like mine, and I get mad when she does something bad. It's really strange, but true. I really get into this book! Read it!!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This book has humor and suspense. I'm fifteen years old and Idon't like to read, but I loved this book. It's about rafting down the Grand Canyon, which I hope to do some day. It was an edge of the seat thriller. My teacher gave it to me two years ago, and I still carry it around.
Rating: Summary: dumb Review: i hate this book. it is so dumb. how i despise it
