Summary: Downriver by Will Hobbs
Review: One of two great books in the series by Will Hobbs is a fast moving rapid, page-turning book. Fifth-teen-year-old, Jessie gets sent away to Discovery Unlimited, a place for troubled kids. When Jessie is at the Unlimited Discovery she meets new people, and faces some scary experiences, but nothing too daring as the one that they get themselves into. Jessie and her new friends, plan a quick way to escape from Al, their old group leader. Soon though everyone finds that Troy is the new leader in the group, and how much harm his blue eyes can really be. All they have is some stolen rafts, food and equipment, and a mile-by-mile guide that gets lost. Can Jessie and her friend's help each other get through this none stopping adventure, and learn more about themselves and each other?
I think this book is an amazing book. It's a book about how you can find yourself anywhere, even on a raft, going down river the Colorado River. Read and find out how heart warming and irresistible Downriver is.

Summary: Downriver
Review: "We're really doing it! We're pirating the Grand Canyon of the Colorado!" No guides, no adults, book is a great example of Hobbs' amazing talent in description. The action runs as fast as the river in this riveting page- turner. Watch as the rapids sail by and tempers barely any experience. Just some stolen rafts and food from the program Jesse, Rita, Star, Adam, Pug and Troy were in before they left their counselor, Al, in the dust and launched into the Colorado River, and an experience none of them will ever forget. This spectacular run wild all the way down the Colorado River. Every bodies worries drift away- at least for now.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone (and I mean anyone) who enjoys a great adventure book. Also, look out for the sequel, River Thunder, which is already out.

Review: This book is about a group of kids who take a survival trip up mountains and white water rafting through the Grand Canyon. They loose there tour guide ad are floating down the Colorado River, through the Grand Canyon. They run into problems like on Kings Peak where it is almost a disaster and they almost lose a member of the group. This is an exciting book with action for everyone.
This book I really liked it wasn't my favorite but it had to be up there. I gave it a 4out of 5 star rating. I chose this because it was like a Gary Paulson book who is my favorite author because of hatchet. That is the book I would compare it to this book.
I would recommend this book to anyone. It is a great book to read for everyone and it's a middle size book. I thought this was a great book and other people should read it.

Summary: Downriver
Review: Downriver is a great book. It was about a group of teens that ditched their outdoor education program to go river rafting. Jessie and some other friends of hers used borrowed equipment to explore the Grand Canyon's roaring rapids. When they went to go river rafting they had no adults and no river map.

I decided to read Downriver because my brother read this book and he highly recommended it to me. He thought I would enjoy this book because i like any book that is adventerous and wild. I also read some book reviews on line and it seems to have high review comments. Most of the comments said that Downriver was a very good book to read so I decide to read it for my self.

My favorite part of the book was when Jessie went back to the camp and the first thing she did was to go look in the mirror. I would have never guessed that she would visit the mirror first. Insetad I whould have just taken a shower and forget about the mirror. I also thought it was sort of funny too.

Summary: Downriver is not what it sounds like
Review: Downriver at first seemed like an interesting, exciting adventure. I read the first few pages and it seemed all right to me. After I finished, however, I was the happiest person alive--it was OVER! The book was that terrible. I read this book with a few other people (males and females) and we all wanted to stop reading it. We kept onward, though, thinking that it would get better. It didn't. Our group would go on "Downriver Rants" when we got together, finding everything that drove us crazy about the book. The story lacked enough setting or description, although the Grand Canyone is full of beautiful things to talk about. When there was any setting or description, it detracted from the story or made no sense. In the first chapter, it just plunked you right down into the book. It seemed like their were pages missing! Hobbs was not true to the characters throughout the novel; they changed with every page. Important parts would be skimmed over, while it took 3 pages to braid someone's hair. Also, the book was completely unrealistic in many parts, like a fantasy set in our time. This is one of the books on my "worst book list". For me, it wasn't worth reading. Funnily enough, the sequel was almost better than the original--Hobbs must have learned how to write better. He also gave answers to unsolved questions in the sequel. However, the first book, Downriver, STUNK.
