Summary: Great Book
Review: The book Downriver was one of the best books I have ever read. It was full of surprises and action. It was about a group of troubled teens going out on a whitewater trip with their leader. While their guide is in an equipment shop the teens decide that they want to run this trip themselves. The teens drive away and begin their adventure. You don't have to be a rafting or hiking buff to enjoy this book. Will Hobbs did a wonderful job of expressing the teen's emotions through his writing. Jessie, the main character, is sent to join the team after her mother dies and is sent into a downward spiral. The seven other teens (Pug, Freddy, Adam, Troy, Heather, Rita, and Star) made the movie that much more interesting because none of them thought or spoke the same way. Freddy and Troy both seemed to step up as leaders before and after leaving their guide AL. All of the characters kept the story going and there was never a dull moment in this book. This book pertains to all interests and personalities. This book is about love, adventure, taking chances, and living on the edge. The fact that everyone will enjoy it is the main reason why I gave it a five star rating.

Summary: Downriver: Must Read!
Review: Will Hobbs is well known for his wonderful novels that use nature, and Downriver is no exception. This book struck a chord with me due to its nature setting. Any nature fan best check this out. Jessie, the main character, is an intriguing one. She is sent to a youth camp for wayward children after flipping a car, and after her mother's death. Her father seems to be the ultimate evil to her throughout the book for sending her there. This hate for her father interested me and kept be reading. She joins a group with 7 other kids: Adam, Pug, Star, Troy, Rita, Heather, and Freddy. These characters offered a range of emotions and were quite diverse in their own right. Troy and Freddy emerged as two major leaders amongst them, while their adult guide Al seemed to lay back. After various tasks they must complete (I don't want to give much away) they arrive at the decision to run the San Juan River with Al, or steal the rafts and run The Colorado. Ultimately, they steal the rafts and run the Colorado. The depth of the characters fascinated me, in addition to how they play in each other's lives. On the River, alliances are formed, enemies are made and hearts are broken. This book was truly a great read, and a must for anyone even remotely interested in nature. The characters fascinated me and I am sure they will fascinate you as well. I loved the experience of Downriver and I definitely recommend it to anyone: I solid five stars.
