Rating: Summary: There is an Isis Trillogy...I want the rest of themIN PRINT! Review: This is a fabulous book, the descriptions are lovely. I just read it last night (and it was beautiful and sad and amazing) and considered scrapping half of my college syllabus and sharing it with my students (I still might.) There is mention of an Isis Trillogy...I hope they reprint the rest of them soon!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This is a wonderful book. Beautifully written with exquisite description and characters who become so real that you remember them 6 or 7 years after you read it (I know I do). Anyone who hasn't read The Guardian of Isis and The Isis Pedlar I urge you to do so at the earliest opportunity.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED this book!!! Review: This is one of the BEST books I ever read. It's about a girl named Olwen who has been stranded on a planet far from the earth when her parents died. Her only companions are Guardian, a humanoid robot, Hobbit, her pet "dog", and the small creatures of the planet. Olwen has never come into contact with another human for at least 10 years, and when the space shuttle lands on her planet, conflicts arise. In one of the new settlers to the planet, Olwen finds love and companionship. This is a really heart wrenching book that you won't be able to put down. You'll finish it in one sitting--I know I did.
Rating: Summary: A Heart Wrenching Tale Review: This was a wonderful book! I just finished it a couple minutes ago, and got right on Amazon to see if there was a sequel! Unfortunently, there is not one in print :(. Olwen is a young woman who lives alone with her guardian on the planet of Isis. She is perfectly content until the conlonists arrive. With them arrives Mark, a young man intensly curious about the masked light keeper, Olwen. If I told anthing else about the story I might give it away! So that's all I've got to say! Please pick this book up!
Rating: Summary: An excellent book on Prejudice. Review: Though I am currently a college student, when I first read this book in 9th grade I was captivated by the young woman who is the main character. A book that deals with preconceptions and the need for acceptance.
Rating: Summary: Come on!! Does science fiction get any more pathetic? Review: Very simply one of the worst books I have ever read--and I've read a lot of books. Where should I start? It's full of unnecessary details--like that plants have silver leaves--and I hated all the characters. One character called Guardian, the author keeps hinting that he is a robot but never comes right out and says it until the end. There's a lot more to hate about it too. Read it only as a last resort. I am 14. I only read it because it was recommended to me and the sequel looked like it might be better. I haven't read the sequel yet.
