Summary: A Must-Read!
Review: A great book!! The story is compelling and the descriptions are great

Summary: Dealing with appearances
Review: A must-read for any teen or pre-teen, especially those struggling with the age-old problem of appearances in society and what their peers think of them! Olwen, having grown up on Isis under the protection of Guardian for 16 Earth years, has no reason to see herself as "different" until the Earth settlers arrive. Still under Guardian's protection, she does see herself as beautiful; her beauty is functional and has helped her survive. What ensues in the story is mind-opening and riveting for anyone who has dealt with discrimination, being ostracized for being "different," or being rejected by a loved one for something you can't change. I wish I'd read this as a teen! Hughes has touched on an issue that is a common and enduring problem.

Summary: The Keeper Of The Isis Light
Review: Carmen The Keeper of the Isis Light 11/26/02
By: Monica Hughes

I love the book The Keeper Of The Isis Light for many different reasons. In this book there is a teenager named Olwen who lives with her friend Guardian on an abandoned planet named Isis. Olwen doesn't have any parents but she has a loving dragon-dog named Hobbit. Her friend Guardian protects her and keeps her on her feet, but Guardian is different than most caretakers. Guardian will never tell Olwen about anything that is going on which is totally unfair, but since she's one of the only people he knows he spoils her rotten. He has a secret to his past that no one knows.
I love this book so much because it is in the future and there are a lot of really cool things on the planet. I would recommend this book to someone who likes Science Fiction and Fantasy. Another book in the series is The Guardian of Isis. This is a great book!

Summary: The Keeper Of The Isis Light
Review: I first found out about this novel when I was assigned it for my book report. I kept glancing back at the front cover to match it with the part of the book I was at. (I found out about this place while doing reseach for the book report.) I was a bit confused in the beginning about "Guardian" and the other things Olwen (The Keeper, and the main character of the story) was talking about. In the middle/end everything started to make sence, and that's when I really stared to get into the book and could not put it down. I thought that it was exhilarating at times. I hope to read more of Monica Hughes books soon. I think I would suggest this to anyone who enjoys a good book and anyone that can read!(by the way I'm in grade six but this book is suitable for younger/older readers aswell) I would write more but i do not want to give away the story, so please, read "The Keeper Of The Isis Light" !

Summary: One of the best science fiction books I have ever read
Review: I got all three of the Isis books about four years ago. My mom reviews books and we get a ton for free in the mail. I never really got into them, partly because mine had terrible drab and depressing covers and next to nothing on the back. The I found the first one at my cottage with an extremely interesting cover and I was hooked emediatly.

I love this book the best out of the first two I've read (I plan to finish the third today so I can't comment on it at present) because it is so unlike your usual romance imbedded in a science fiction or fantasy. Usually the plot is so complicated already that any romance works out perfectly. I not going to give any thing away but lets just say that some of the characters weren't what they seemed. I loved Guardien because he was so eager to please but so determined to do what he thought was right for Olwen at the same time. I liked Jody as well even though he didn't really act like a nine-year-old.

I have placed this book on the shelf with the rest of my absolute favourites and I hope everybody will get to read as good a science fiction as this.

Summary: DEEPLY MOVING HARD TO CONSENTRATE
Review: I LIKE THE BOOK THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THAT WHEN I WAS READING IT I GOT A LITTLE CONFUSED AND AT SOME POINT EVEN FELL ASLEEP IT IS AMUSING YOU JUST HAVE TO KNOW ONE CHAPTER IS FROM OLWEN AND THE OTHER IS FROM THE BOY IF I WOULD HAVE KNOW THIS I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT ALOT FASTER OTHERWISE IT IS A BEAUTIFUL PEICE OF WORK.GOOD READ AND IT REALLY MAKES YOU THINK.

Summary: Confusing at first but I caught on. Then I liked it.
Review: I liked the book and all, but I never would've understood it if my teacher wouldn't have explained it. I had to read a passage repeatedly to understand it fully. After a couple of the first chapters, I didn't need my teachers help of explaining the word use. That was last year in grade 8. If the teacher didn't assign the book to read. I probably would've gaven up in the beginning. The descriptions of the planet were interesting but hard to understand. I don't mean to offend anyone in this passage, because overall it was a good book.

Summary: I love this book ....
Review: I love this book and I wish there was a sequel.I love all the characters. They are extremely well defined and the situations they go through depict our world in similar situations teens like me go through and I love it.Very nice.

Summary: best book ever!!!
Review: I loved this book, it is science fiction but it is also about companionship and belonging. I won't tell you the ending, it would spoil it.
