Rating: Summary: First, but definatly not last Review: This book was the book that opened me up to Lurlene's work. I happened to be at my local library one afternoon this summer and picked it up, due to it's name, because I love romance novels. I started reading it that afternoon and found it impossible to put it down. I have to agree with one other person who made a reveiw and say that the first story, Night Vision, was also my favorite. The story it's self was so romantic and touching, and the ending so sad that I think it's impossible not to bring a tear to everyone who reads it's eye. After I read this book, I went to the library and found as much books by Lurlene McDaniel as I could and only a week later I'd read all the books the library had to offer by her. I think that she has a great way of writing and I love how most all her books, including this one, end sadly. Sad endings proves how strong the love that these people shared really was, and in my eyes, that makes the whole book worth while.
Rating: Summary: Re: Tight book Review: This book was very good. In the first one,a seventeen year old boy named Brett, who just moved to Massachusetts from Florida, falls in love with a girl named Shayla, who has a skin disorder. They are deeply in love when tragedy strikes Shayla. In the second story,Dana falls in love with her boyfriend's brother, who has terminal brain cancer. She must choose between the two,who she dearly loves. The third book is about a girl named Laura, who is in need of a heart transplant, and while in the hospital for an infection, she meets an aid named Ramon, and they fall in love (This is a love story, like you couldnt tell!),and she gets her heart transplant, but the tragedy is is whos heart was it that saved her life
Rating: Summary: And, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death Review: This book was... awesome. Each story was captivating and well, written, (as are all other Lurlene McDaniel books I've read.). Lurlene has truly captured the meaning of true love. I recommend this to any one who needs a reminder of what real love is.
Rating: Summary: How Do I Love Thee, A lot Review: This is a great book. It has the sonnet, 'How Do I Love Thee' in the beginning of the book. I loved this book. The book, shows all about the power of love. This book, is made up of threee stories. The first story, is about a boy who falls in love, with a girl who is allergic to sun-light. Then she hear her best friend dies, so she takes her boat out in the water and crys herself to sleep. When she wakes up, in the sunlight, she gets 3rd-degree burns, and dies. Then the second story, is about a girl who is in love with two boys, who just-so-happens, to be brothers. She is dating one. The othere she had a fling with, and now he has termail brain cancer. The third story, is about a girl with a weak heart, with badly needs a transplant. She falls in loves, with a boy from "the wrong-side of the tracks." He get murdered. Before hand, he goes to hospital and tells them he wants his organs donated when he dies. But he wants his heart to go to her. Then she gets the heart transplant, she needs. She finds out is was his heart, she got.
Rating: Summary: BEST BOOK! Review: This is the best book ever. I love this book so much. I love the author to i have read almost all of her books... I just love them because i am a very caring person so i like books that show others help. they are sad books but i love the most the one last wish ones. All the books make me cry but i just love reading them and i have a friend that likes to read romance well instead of romance i read these books. I hope this helps...
Rating: Summary: It was OK Review: This was Ok I guess. i really only like 1 story though. I didnt expect them to all be so sad. Cuz in "Night Vision" the girl finally starts 2 have a life, then she dies. In "Bobby's Girl" (my fav.) Dana and Steve are well, forbidden (I know Im being dramatic, but O well) 2 be together cuz shes dating, you guessed it, Bobby. but Ihave to say that "Laura's Heart" was the saddest, because when she finally gets her long awauted heart transplant, its the heart of the person she loved most, but was forbidden to be with. OK I know that these arent the best book descriptions, but read the book for yourself to see what you think of it.
Rating: Summary: Moving stories of change Review: Three stories under one cover blend McDaniel's proven track record for presenting stories of teens struggling with illness with an added touch of romance. A girl with a genetic disorder which keeps her in the dark falls in love with Brett, who is determined to make her life better. Dana must choose between two brothers - one she loves, and one who loves her, but who has a short predicted lifespan. Laura's weak heart always brings her in touch with death but death passes her and strikes another close to her, and she must adjust. All are moving stories of change.
Rating: Summary: Well..... Review: What can I say? Some people are fine reading another romance from Lurlene McDaniel, and some are not. I am annoyed that this has been the deal for too long. I think that there should be a different genre . . . not romance. Readers get tired of the same old thing over and over. McDaniel needs to face reality and learn what customers want: VARIETY! The stories themselves were also poor. Brett's summer fling with Shayla, a girl with a genetic disease proved a yawnfest, Dana's love for two brothers proved annoying and Laura's secret romance with Ramon proved to be boring. Why do we as customers continue to buy these books? I don't see.
