Rating: Summary: Don't Scream By: Joan Lowery Nixon Review: Great book! The book "Don't Scream" by Joan Lowery Nixon, was thrilling and suspenseful. I had trouble putting down the book because I was drawn into the plot. I could relate to Jessica, the main character very well. Joan Lowery Nixon is a clever author. Her characters are well developed. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspenseful books.
Rating: Summary: Rick Marshall is a big dope Review: I liked the book a lot. The character I think who didn';t get enough attention was the cat killing neighbor named rick marshall. His behavoir is frightening. Overall though, great read.
Rating: Summary: *Iris* Review: I think that this was the first book that read by Joan Lowery Nixon, but the best one too! I love mystery books, but a mystery and teenage type of book is even better because it makes you jump into the book and imagine yourself telling the story on your own. I really love this type of book and I also recomend The Name of the Game was Murder, another Nixon book. This is a really good book and I hope you enjoy it too...
Rating: Summary: Its an OK read Review: I thought this book was OK (hints my review title). The book was really slow in the beginning and the actual book didn't start until like three forths the way through. Ya, Joan Lowery Nixon REALLY introduced you to the characters in this book, that got pretty boring! But the last 30 pages of the book were pretty interesting because stuff was actually happening. This book would be good for a reader that likes to find out who the bad guy is on the last page of the book because that is practically what Nixon did in the book. So overall this book wasn't wasting my time but I could have gone without reading it.
Rating: Summary: It's been a whole year Review: It's been a whole year since the tragic death of Joan Lowery Nixon, and thinking about her many gifts as an author, I miss her today, as the stack of manuscripts she finished but didn't live to see published dwindles down. She won the Edgar Award an incredible four times, but her greatest happiness came from the letters and reviews her readers gave her, for there are many readers whose favorite writer will always be Joan Lowery Nixon.
DON'T SCREAM is a good one by her, although most of her books are good even if she did turn them out at a rate of up to 8 a year. In DON'T SCREAM, the action turns on one ordianry gir;'s suspicions that one of two new boys in town is secretly evil, and Joan ratchets up the suspense so we never know which one it is. Every time you think it's one, she weakens your suspicion by making the other one act in an ambiguous way. It's a seesaw ride of brilliant suspense, and the heroine, Jessica, reacts to this unusual situation just as many another small town girl would do, she keeps her doubts to herself, failing to confide in authority until it's almost too late.
It's set in Texas, so there are a lot of regionalisms, for this is an area that Joan knew well, and loved.
It's been a year now, and oh, how bitter the loss! But the books live on to comfort us in your demise.
Rating: Summary: A True Horror Story Review: Jess is overwhelmed by the cute guy that moves in next door to her. She later on finds out that another cute guy moves in to the neighborhood and she feels that this could be the best year ever. She then noticed that the neighborhood cats are starting to disappear, wierd shadows start to appear out side her house. She finds out that the FBI released a psychotic person to her neigborhood, could it be one of the two cute guys? With the help of her good friend she is going to find out who is doing these terrible things.
Rating: Summary: Jess likes two new guys, but doesn't know whom she can trust Review: Jessica is looking forward to the school year when two new kids move into her neighborhood. But one has a fake identity and the other is bossy. She doesn't know which one two like. Then the neighbor's cat dissapears, and someone takes her also. She sees someone at night behind the tree, and knows this is the person that is taking the cats. unfortunately, Jess puts it on herself to find the cats, no matter what it causts, even if it means death. This is a perfect mystery novel for young adults because she keeps you captivated. You can't just skip a part in the book or you miss the whole things. It really keeps your attention.
