Summary: A Wonderful Book!!!!!!
Review: After reading Sarah's Story I was interested in the character, Frances. This book is fabulous not only do lots of really fascinating things happen to her (going to Art School, being an artist etc.), but the fabulous love story of Frances and Gabriel really comes into focus.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: ...Opinion
Review: Frances' Story is really, really good. At the beginning of the book Frances, 16 years old, takes charge when her mother dies. She is a wonderful painter and a good sister. This book takes you through the life of a person during WW1 and you will never want to put this book down.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Best of the four
Review: I found Frances' story the best of all the Sisters of the Quantock Hills books. Sarah, to me, acted kind of babyish and juvenile throughout the book, and Julia's was definately good, but I would have liked to have seen it end differently. Frances is a head-strong woman with an incredible talent that sometimes ended up influencing her decisions involving her family and especially Gabriel. Sometimes I felt like kicking her for the way she could be so blind, but it all ended well. If you like historical romances, the Sisters of the Quantock Hills are for you!

Summary: Wonderful addition
Review: I would firstly love to say that this series is magnificent. In Sarah's Story you see Sarah watching Frances' love develop with Gabriel but in Frances' Story you see what really happened and what Sarah could never know.

Frances is a painter and after her mother dies she has to take care of her three younger sisters. During the next ten years or so you see her struggle to keep everything together and watch Gabriel slowly seep into her heart.

If you love historical fiction with a twist of romance, you will love this book. I reccomend reading these books in order and purchasing them all.

Summary: Second of the Quantock Hill Saga
Review: The four stories of the Purcell sisters are really fascinating portraits of both the period and of an unusual family. I find it intriguing to see how the events in the family's life are seen and interpreted by each of the four girls. Sarah's story is first, and presents the basic facts from the perspective of a young girl. This story, Frances's, shows us the oldest in the family, a determined young woman with amazing artistic talent. Her story is a good read on its own, and even more interesting if you have read Sarah's story first, because you fill in some of the missing pieces that young Sarah couldn't know about. You also find out what happens after Sarah's book ends. I highly recommend the whole series.

Summary: A Wonderful Historic Read
Review: The Quantock Quartet are some of the best books I have read, historical fiction or otherwise. The first book basically told you what was happening to the Purcells, and gave Sara's perspective on the romance between her oldest sister and Gabriel. In this installment, we learn what really went on, the things Sara couldn't have known. It also covers a bit after Sara's Story ended...you won't expect the twist at the end. If you like historical fiction (with a bit of romance) I highly reccomend the Quantock Quartet.

Summary: A Wonderful Historic Read
Review: The Quantock Quartet are some of the best books I have read, historical fiction or otherwise. This novel is the only one I felt rated below a five because parts of it just dragged. Frances was the only sister I couldn't feel some sort of connection with. She came across so obstinate in parts you just wanted to set down the book and seethe at her actions. The series, however, wouldn't be the same without this installment, and all in all, it was good. "Sarah's Story" basically told you what was happening to the Purcells, and gave Sarah's perspective on the romance between her oldest sister and Gabriel. In "Frances' Story", we learn what really went on, the things Sarah had no way of knowing about. We also learn that maybe Frances *didn't* have it together all the time, despite her actions. This story covers a bit after "Sarah's Story" ended...you won't expect the twist at the end. If you like historical fiction (with a bit of romance) I highly recommend the Quantock Quartet.

Summary: great!
Review: this book is great. it is better than Sarah's Story, because it has more romance and stuff. Frances is older than Sarah, which makes it more interesting also. you find in this book that Sarah is kind of shallow. i strongly recommend this book, but i also strongly recommend you read Sarah's Story first. the author can be kind of confusing at times, but after you read all four of the books, you kind of get the story. :-) I would give this book 4 1/2 stars if it was an option.
