Rating: Summary: Dark and triumphant Review: This book made me so mad that at one point I threw it down and refused to read any more of it until it promised to behave. I say this not to discourage you from reading it, but to demonstrate how involved I was in the characters. The Wings of the Falcon is the most realistic and harsh of Voight's Kingdom Cycle, and those of you who have read the first two books already know how incredibly descriptive and believable Voight is. This book was both poignant and upsetting. You do learn what happens to the descendant of Orien and Birle, which should make followers of the series happy. Voight's grasp of relationships and human nature is the strongest of any author I have ever read. You will especially like the friendship between Griff and Oriel, and seeing the complementary strengths of each. Just a warning - the part which made me so mad was that Voight relaxes some of her usual moral standard in this book. This is not uncommon these days, but I hold her to a higher standard than other authors. This book will give you much to think about.
Rating: Summary: Stunning! Absoulutely Amazing! Review: This book moved me. How Cynthia can portray characters so realistically is amazing. Not to give too much of the plot away, two characters develop a friendship that can be like no other, only to have it suddenly torn apart by greed and despairity near the end. I definately recommend it.
Rating: Summary: GET HOOKED WITH WINGS OF A FALCON Review: this book was pretty great! Even though it was a little challenging, I GOT MOST OF IT. It had so many details about how the two boys ran away from Dammal island, and lived in many different cities. I thought it was a great fantasy book, since the author put Mad Maggy in it. It really inspired me... BUT READ IT- YOU'LL LOVE IT!
Rating: Summary: A great book, test characters in loyalty, love, and survival Review: This is a beautiful book, it takes you through a twisting story which captures the essence of survival of the fittest. As the story unfolds you become part of the characters and experience their strengths and weaknesses. This book plays with cruelty, human survival and the effects it has on the victims. I love the mystical world in which this story takes place. I would also recremend Jackaroo and On Fortunes Wheel.
Rating: Summary: the best book of all time for young adult readers Review: this is my favorite book of all time. i don't know how Cynthia can write this great material. it is so good, it seems it must be real! it combines adventure and history with a touch of romance(boys- don't get discouraged, the hero dies before he can get all the way married to her) and meanery( or whatever-it really isn't horror, just torture).this is the best book, and i hope cynthia reads these, and decides to write a ton more about this, or at least about Orien in On Fortunes Wheel. or at least get her husband to write it or someone that is a good writer in the family, and cynthia could help that person write it.by the way- how old is cynthia voigt? and anyone who wants to talk can use my email
Rating: Summary: AMAZING! Review: This is one of my favorite books of all time. I read this book awhile ago and I still put myself in the main character's place. It's amazing in how Griff (the main character's best friend) and the boy with no name (later Oriel) escapes to only find that it is no better anywhere. I loved this book, and I strongly recomend reading the other books in the series. Those are Jackaroo, and On Fortune's Wheel. Even though The Wings of a Falcon is long, I didn't regret getting the book when I was in the middle. This is a hard-to-put-down book, though maybe boring for a few pages pages, but then it is exciting again. It is 467 pages, and 31 chapters, but it only took me 5 days to read it. That is really how exciting it is.
Rating: Summary: A truly great novel Review: This is one of the best books i ever read, the way Cynthia Voigt wirtes the story was great. The book was thought provoking.....i couldn't put it down. The characters seem very real because of the feelings they have and the things they experience.I would defiently recommande tis book for all readers, and i wouldn't mind reading it a second time.
Rating: Summary: A wonderfully woven epic of loyalty and courage. Review: This is one of the best books I've ever read. The tale of Oriel and Griff seems so real and it never loses its beauty. I highly reccommend this book to anyone. It's one of the best.
Rating: Summary: unsatisfying Review: to tell the truth i was dissapointed in in this book. voigts stories are always long and drawn out but this was too much. oriel's character seemed cold and cruel, and hardly anything was done with griffs character. as for the plot it was sketchy and unbelievable.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Astounding! Review: Voight really makes the book seem like it could've been real! Griff really seems like he was very attached to Oriel ... Well, I need to get the other two and read them! This one was very suspenseful! I read it in four days! I was actually frightened a little by the wolfers and stuff. Makes it seem possible. Voight's plot shift was different but you could almost feel it coming. Griff always behind Oriel and never really talking. All in all, Absolutely Astounding!! [Would've given it a 7 (hehe)]
