Rating: Summary: The Watcher Review: What can I say, this book was simply great. James Howe wrote this book as if it really could of happened. Margrot spends all of her time sitting around watching other people and families at the beach. She lives a sad, sad life that is not brought into the book until the end. Evan lives a lonely life without many friends. He just plays with his sister, and reads books. He discovers that his parents mariage isn't doing to well, and he watches as they grow farther and farther apart. Calie is the sister of Evan. She looks up to her big brother Evan a lot. She is also sad that her parents are not getting along how they used to, and is sad about that. Chris is a lifeguard who does not like his parents very much. Chris just likes to stay out late partying, and drinking. Chris had an older brother that died before he was born by drownding in a pool after chasing a dog. His father could never forgive himself because he was the one responsible for watching him. Those are basically the four main characters, and you want to know what happens to them, your just going to have to find out yourselves. I would recommend this book to any young adult readers. If you ever get a chance I would read this book.
Rating: Summary: The Book Kept Me on The Edge Of My Seat Review: I liked this book the watcher because of the way the author described all of the characters in detail. The book was called "The Watcher" but the author diden't really talk about that character a lot,but he did bring out all the other characters. I think the book was also exciting because it was really about what real teenagers do when they're depressed. They will go to parties or somewhere too get high and also drunk. That,I think,is what the author was triing to get across to the readers.I really hope I'm not the only one that thinks the same way about this book. That is why I like this book "THE WATCHER"
Rating: Summary: OVERRATED Review: THE WATCHER, by James Howe is a book that I didn't like. I didn't care for the way he had developed his characters. All the problems that the characters had, made them seem not true to real life. The way Margaret, "The Watcher", just watched everyone, not moving or talking to them seemed pointless to me. I feel James Howe could have done more with this book. I didn't get much from this book and don't recommend it for exciting reading.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Review: This book was one of the best books I have ever read. It helped me and others to understand that everything in life is not what it appears to be. In this book, for instance, Evan and Callie's family looked like a perfect family, but Jeff and Karen were thinking about getting a divorce. The Watcher also looked like a pretty normal girl , but at her father abused her at home. This book is a very descriptive book. James Howe makes it a lot easier to understand the characters life from their point of view. The way he described the Watcher showed her lack of self-esstem and how lonely she was. I hope that everyone that reads this book will enjoy it as much has I did.
Rating: Summary: A piece of... Review: This book was decent in my opinion. I wouldn't recommend it to younger ages to read. I didn't like the fact that the writer skipped around characters, although the book was called "The Watcher" it wasn't just based on one person, it hardly even talked about her or also known as the watcher, it mostly talked about another character in the book called Evan. Other than that I liked the fact that the author wrote it so that it seemed real, he used real life incidents that could really accrue. This book made you feel like you were reading something that really happened even though it was fiction. I definitely recommend this book to the older readers because of the language used in it.
Rating: Summary: My reveiw for the book known as "The Watcher" Review: This book was decent in my opinion. I wouldn't recommend it to younger ages to read. I didn't like the face that the writer skipped around characters, although the book was call "The Watcher" it wasn't just based on one person, it hardly even talked about her or also known as the watcher, it mostly talked about another character in the book called Evan. Other than that I liked the fact that the author wrote it so that it seemed real, he used real life innocents that could really accrue. This book made you feel like you were reading something that really happened even thought it was fiction. I definitely recommend this book to the older readers because of the language used in it.
Rating: Summary: an overflow of emotion Review: this book was one of my favorites. I never wanted to put it down. There was no way that you couldn't feel for all the characters. The author writes about threee people and still tells,in detail, what is going on in that persons life. this book shows that there is a real misinterpertation in a lot of peoples lives. what one things seems it actually isn't.
Rating: Summary: The Watcher Review: The novel The Watcher by James Howe was a very realistic book, but in the same way unreal. The book was based on a girl who was abused by her father and she never told anyone. This girl(the watcher) also spent most of her time at the beach watching many different people and writing down what she observed about them in her diary. This book really confused me when the author started to talk about her diary. I didn't understand how the watcher renamed all of the charactors of the book in her diary. The author really didn't base the book on the watcher either. He based it mostly on a family that the watcher noticed on the beach, and that really shocked me that he didn't stick to her as a main charactor throughout this book. In my opinion, i thought that this book wasn't all that well. I would say that this book should be written for adults or advanced young adults. But, this book was a good example of child abuse.
Rating: Summary: Who wants to read about depression? Review: I thought this book really isn't worth reading, unless you are into learning about fictional problems and depression. Ever main character has some problem to have to do with depression and they all look at eachother like the other is perfect, when they really aren't. The only thing I did like about it is how everyone is a "real" person and not a Hollywood made perfect person in every way. It was well written, but still boring. I'm not saying it is a bad book, but you would have to be interested in that kind of thing to enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: Still in Amazement Review: When we first started to read this book in school, I found it utterly confusing and rather boring. After about four chapters, I couldn't wait to find out what happens at the end. Everything, all at once, ties together. It was amazing! I definitely recommend this book to both teenagers and adults. This outstanding novel is about a contraversial topic whispered throughout many today.
