Summary: Una historia encantadora; traduccion podria haber sido mejor
Review: I love the Harry Potter books. I've read all of them, and I am currently reading the 2nd book in Spanish to my sutdents. I already read Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal to them. I will say I was not all that pleased with the translation, but overall, the story is good and I wanted to give my students the opportunity to meet Harry Potter and his wonderful world. They are as excited about it as I am, but I will say that it would be difficult for them to understand if I were not guiding them through it. My students range from ages 9 to 11 and are Spanish speakers. Many of the words they have never heard such as zumo, mazmorras, zaino, etc. We are using every bit possible as a learning experience. Overall, I can say that difficult or not, it's great the Spanish speakers can have the opportunity to read such a wonderful story.

Summary: Horribly translated
Review: I speak spanish, and my boyfriend thought it would be cute to buy this book for me in spanish. It gave me a headache. The translation is so terrible that I had to put it down after a chapter and pick up the one in english. It is as if it as put through a program to translate it and it wasnt edited afterwards. It seemed like I was reading spanish words with english grammar.

Summary: Great for non-native Spanish speakers!
Review: I studied Spanish in high school and university. I am far from a fluent speaker, though I don't think I'd get myself killed wandering around in Mexico or Spain. Having read all of the Harry Potter books in English many times, I decided to give this a try to brush up on my Spanish skills. I am only about 50 pages into it (reading Spanish takes me a lot longer than English!) but so far I am enjoying it immensely. Of course, it helps that I know what is happening, but that has also helped me with my understanding of the Spanish. I've really enjoyed this experience.

Summary: Excelent
Review: I think this book is very imaginative, intersting and misteryous when i started to read it I couldn't stop, for those people that don't know how is about, is the story of a magical world where Harry is a 10 years old boy adopted by his bad uncles and a cousin of his same age with a strange likeness of a pig.In his birthday he knew that he is a warlock, after that he and his new friends Ron and Hermonie lives the most interesting situations in Hogwarts School of magic.

Summary: OK translation...
Review: I've been reading Spanish for 5 years, so I decided to give the spanish Harry Potter books a go. While I liked the book at first, I noticed some serious inconsistencies between the English version and the Spanish version. For instance, Gnomes guard the Gringotts bank. As to why they picked the word for gnome, I don't know, since there is a Spanish word for goblin! And, from what I've read in the second book, gnomes are also present in the Weasley's yard, as the creatures that Ron and his brothers are supposed to "confuse" out of their yard. That was the main difference, of which I found to be funny. The rhyming that J.K. Rowling put in the book is lost, but I expected that. Despite one reviewer's remark that Neville's toad is a turtle in the Spanish version, I didn't see that. I looked up the word, it is Spanish for toad.
The book is an overall good read, despite the differences, and I look forward to reading the rest of the series in Spanish as well.

Summary: It's an amazing book!
Review: It's a very good book, even knowing it was iniatially written for kids, growing ups have lots of fun with it. The Spanish version is really good too!

Summary: Excelente!
Review: Lo siento a todos para mi espanol. Puedo leer mejor que escribir. Por eso voy a escribir mas en ingles para los que estan tratando a aprender espanol. Creo que es mas facil aprender una lengua nueva cuando esta leyendo un libro tan excelente como esto.

As you can see, my Spanish is not very good anymore; the only practice I get is from reading books which were originally written in Spanish or have been translated, as was Harry Potter. For those of you who are interested in beefing up on your grasp of the Spanish language, I highly recommend these books. Although they will be difficult at times, it is still a great read, especially if you have the patience to take your time with the novel. [If you want to read it quickly and easily, try the English version; it's just as good!] Reading a book that is as good as this one makes learning the language so much better, as I'm sure you're aware.

The hero of the story is Harry, a kid who's entire life has been spent in a cupboard under the stairs, being raised by relatives who don't love him at all. One day he finds out he's really a wizard, and has been accepted at Hogwart's, the greatest school for wizards in the world. When he enters the wizarding world, adventures just seem to jump into his lap. It's a great story for all ages!

Que te diviertas!

Summary: Historia maravillosa, ojalá la traducción fuera mejor
