Summary: Blue Butterfly
Review: A Review By Caitlin

John is a senior in high school. Who is always running when he not he's in school. When he is running through the near by forest he falls in a covered up ditch and lands on a huge bush full of butterflies that he has been trying to find and examine for a long time. When he finally realizes that they aren't the one he thought they were he captures one the next day and takes it to his science teacher to look at. When they both can't identify it then his teacher finally calls up her friend to look at it. When he can't find out what it is then he takes it back to his lab and when they find out that it was an unidentified species it get's printed in the paper and john is famous.

I really didn't like this book because when I looked at the cover I thought that it might be about something at least scary. But then when I started to read it I found out that it was about a stupid butterfly. I also looked on the back to see if I could find out what the book was about and it starts to tell you that someone was following the main character. Also I don't like how the author totally tried to make you feel like this was going to be a murder type book but no it wasn't it was about a butterfly.

I wouldn't make any one read this book because I really thought that it sucked. But if you like boring books about animals this would be your book

Summary: Incredible
Review: Although I may not have agreed with the environmentalist's point of views, I thought the book was very well written. The boy, the main character, reminded me of myself in a lot of ways. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Summary: Inspiring! Enthusiastic!
Review: I just finished reading this book the other night, and I must say, I enjoyed reading it greatly, part of me inside wishes there was more, but, I greatly enjoyed what the author provided.

To some people it might be shocking, but I happen to only be in my teens, and this book is just incredible, I'm surprised it never was a bestseller, I could be wrong, but so far, I haven't heard anything about it being one.

When I finished the book the other night, I was hoping that in the future it would be made into a motion picture, because if it were, I guarantee it would do great in the box office and many people would enjoy it greatly, maybe even as much as I did.

But, it has got to be done by the book, the exact way it is laid out in the book, nothing different, just, the same. I can already think of a great theme song for the movie.

Well, I hope many other adults and young adults have enjoyed this book as much as I did.

Sincerely.

Review: I really enjoyed this book, by David Klass...
He's well described characters and the story...
he put 2 stories in one book...........
the first one is about John's father getting a blood cancer and the other one is finding a butterfly that was never seen before...
So it is new species... and then later the name of this butterfly was named "Rodger California Blue"
Rodger is John's family name...
I really enjoyed this book and i know u'll enjoy this book as much as i did

Summary: A book that makes you question . . .
Review: I teach this book in my upper-level Reading class. It is a marvelous book with a quiet voice that subtly makes you question your attitudes about animals, the environment, industry, realtionships, and nature. This is not an action-packed thriller, which is a turn-off for some kids--at first. I have found that once they get into the story and realize the questions it brings up, they really enjoy it.

I live in a community where hunting is a major pasttime. This book offers the hunters (and those who are against it) different perspectives on the issues of animal rights and the preservation of nature. This book leads to LIVELY discussions and arguments. I highly recommend it for young adults as well as those of us who are older.

Summary: hummm
Review: I though that it was a well written book, and showed some of the dilemas that each person goes through while growing up. As a teenager I found that some of the situations were a little far fetched but in general I enjoyed the book.

Summary: ripped from the headlines
Review: John likes to run and collect butterflies, sometimes while he is running through the forest he takes along his net, and he never imagined that he would catch a butterfly that would lead to a scandal in his mill town.

The butterfly turned out to be a missing link in the evolutionary chhain of butterflies and moths, but the mill workers could care less, they want to keep their jobs and don't want tot stop progress because of an insect.

The real conflict arises when John's dad takes the opposite side, but of course as a mill worker you would expect that...it's another thing in a long list that keeps John and his father apart...but now they are even more apart after his father is diagnosed with leukemia.

Just how much can John handle...the town is about to explode, his family life is falling apart, and how is he going to get out of this mess?

Summary: California Blue
Review: This book is about a boy named John Rodgers who runs track and has a relationship with his father while having a crush on his biology teacher, Ms. Merril. Johns father works at the logging mill and doesnt have the time or patience to deal with John. Also,John loves catching butterflies around the logging mill and around the tons of sequia trees near the mill. One day, John finds an unusual blue butterfly and he discovers that it is a rare unknown he discovers that it is a rare unknown butterfly which signifys the discovery of an unknown species. The only problem is ecologists want to shut down the mill in hopes that the butterfly can live peacefully and flourish. I recommend this book to just about any age and it is a great book that is a quick and fun read.
