Rating: Summary: Intriguing Review: A series of weird murders have accured in Somerset. All of which involved ancient rituals. Just what does this killer have in mind? M.E. asistant Jenna Blake helps police again with this new puzzle. Through her reasearch she must piece together clues and find the killer in time before he or she finds another victim. The book was very intriguing and suspenseful. It has nice descriptions that bring you back to the reality of murders. The ending is unexpected, but it all fits together and makes sense. The charaters and their thoughts are portrayed nicely. There isn't anything I can think of that I didn't like in the book. This book is a nice edition to the Body of Evidence series. For anyone who has enjoyed the previous Body of Evidence books or just enjoys mysteries, this would be a good book to read.
Rating: Summary: This book was a true page turner Review: After having read the first two books in the series, I could hardly wait to get this one. Once I finally got it and started reading, I couldn't put it down. Although I was slightly disappointed with the way it ended, it left me anticipating the next book in the series. It is truly the best series I have read in a long time.
Rating: Summary: This book is one of the best of the year! Review: After having read the first two books in the series, I could hardly wait to get this one. Rating: Summary: Another weird one? Count me in! Review: Another set of weird murders have hit Somerset. In each of the crime scenes, the killer leaves obvious markings that have to do with ancient rituals. M.E. assistant Jenna Blake helps police solve this new puzzle. Can she piece together clues and imformation from her research in time to identify and find the killer before the killer finds another victim? There are many twist and turns thourghout this book, but it all eventually comes together and the ending makes sense. The discriptions are clear and vivid and they bring us back to the reality of murders. It starts with a bang and leaves you hanging at the end of every chapter. I've always liked how Chistopher Golden depicts his charaters and their thoughts and opinions. At the moment I can't think of anything bad about the book. I enjoyed reading this book. It is a nice edition to the "A Body of Evidence" series. I recomand it to anyone who has enjoyed any of the previous books in this series and anyone who just likes a good mystery.
Rating: Summary: This book was a true page turner Review: I have read all of the Body of Evidence books. These books were so great because Jenna seemed so real. Her realationship with danny was excelent (just the way a real teen feels in a crush). I was very disapointed with the end and hope the next book is just as good if not better.
Rating: Summary: Soul Survivor Review: I like Christopher Golden's pace and style. His characters (except for the professor and her roommate)are solid and his descriptions are realistic. There are some weaknesses to the plot of this thriller, though. One is his treatment of the laitmotif. Although Golden did research on cults and rituals,he mixes them up and his confusion is noticeable. His concept of transmigration of the soul is too superficial. Explanations of the killer's motifs are very sketchy, caricaturesque at best. Then it's the unexpected twist he gives to the end. Not too convincing. It leaves you hanging, less surprised than annoyed at the mediocre resolution. I still recommend the book for aspiring writers to keep a open eye on what works and what doesn't in literature.
Rating: Summary: Body of Evidence Books are great thrillers Review: I've read 2 of the Body of Evidence books and I cant wait to start the 3rd! Jenna is very realistic and so are the rest of the characters and the setting too. I am hooked on these books! It really opened the world of college and pathology up to me! At first I was skeptical about the books because of their names and what they were about, so they sat on the shelf for a month, but when I opened the book "Body Bags" I couldn't put it down! As soon as I finished that I went right on to "Theif of Hearts". All I can say is Keep em' comin Chris!
Rating: Summary: Intriguing Addition to the Series Review: Still grieving over the murder of her best friend, Melody, Jenna Blake returns to work assisting her boss, Dr. Slikowski, in the Medical Examiner's Office. This time there's a new killer, who is performing strange, ritualistic murders on innocent people. Hindu magick, Japanese mysticism, etc. Jenna starts boning up on research about the strange rituals, and finds out some very weird information. But between school, work, and a new twist in the Jenna Blake, student at Somerset University, and Danny Mariano, detective for the Somerset PD, "romance," Jenna is finding it hard to focus. And if she doesn't begin focusing soon, she may not survive her first semester of college.I've never read a series whose sequels are just as good, if not better, than the first book. But Christoper Golden's A BODY OF EVIDENCE series has proved me wrong. Each book is better than the last. Filled with murder, intrigue, mystery, science, etc. Jenna Blake is an enjoyable chracter whom you are always rooting for, and you feel much the same about her friends. Fans of BODY BAGS and THIEF OF HEARTS have to read SOUL SURVIVOR. You will NOT be disappointed. Erika Sorocco
