Summary: Vivian Thrift's BOOK REVIEW IN RHYME
Review: Before you begin my review for the book Dragon's Bait by Vivian Vande Velde, please note that the pen name "Vivian Thrift" belongs to ME and if anyone else so chooses to use it, they will have to answer to a very ticked off poet (which is not a pleasant thing).

Vande Velde's marvelous mythical book
Starts off with a fantastic eye-opening hook
The main character Alys (accused of practicing magic),
Is sentenced to a death that would be quite tragic
To be tied to a post in a field with a beast
Who would find her an easy-to-catch and delightful feast
The dragon comes closer, to close in on it's prey
What shall Alys do now, if a choice comes her way?
Had the dragon even seen her? Now her skills put to test
Read the rest of the book to find out the rest.

VVV's writing is really a treat
It keeps the reader forever on their feet
I couldn't stop reading until it was done
(Consequently, I was reading in the morning several hours past 1)
She has a great way of making it exciting
Adding lots of originality and a great style of writing.
This was the first Vande Velde book I read, and I thought it was clever,
It made me get hooked on her writing forever!

Now for the suggestions that come at the end,
If you liked this author or book then I highly reccommend:

Philip Pullman, Brian Jacques, Robin McKinely*, J.K. Rowling, Peter S. Beagle, Richard Adams, J.R.R. Tolkien

*If you really liked Vivian Vande Velde's work, then you should most likely check out Robin McKinely. They are somewhat similiar in my opinion. Which is probably pretty accurate, since I get them confused with each other all the time...

The idea of Vivian Thrift's BOOK REVIEW IN RHYME is copyright me! (Vivian Thrift) Please e-mail me at Britishauthor@aol.com and tell me if my poetry needs work or give me any suggestions you might have. Thanks everyone! -V.T.

Summary: Dragon's Bait Review --by Michelle
Review: Be warned...once you start this book you won't be able to put it down!

A great story about Alys who is accused of being a witch and is left for the dragon to eat. Selendril though is no ordinary dragon, but a golden dragon with the power to change shape into creatures and human. He decides not to eat her, but to help her get revenge on the people who she wanted to hurt. But Alys finds that revenge isn't always so sweet.

Another fantastic book from Vivian Vande Velde. Not quite as good as Companions of the Night, but definitely up there with Magic Can Be Murder and A Hidden Magic. Read it!

Summary: A fabulous little book!
Review: This was a great book: a nice, easy-to-read page turner that had me hooked from start to finish.

I had no problems in believing any of the characters or settings. In fact, while I read this story, I was totally there! It was so compelling. Vivian Vande Velde is obviously an intelligent, accomplished author, and I look forward to reading more of her books.

The recommended reading age for this book--12 and up--was spot on, but I'd recommend it not just to teens, but to any adults who like a good fantasy read too. I mean, I'm 33 and I thought it was brilliant!
