Summary: And it all starts here
Review: The best series in the whole world starts with this great book.

Zoey Passmore is one of the Chatham Island teenagers that grew up on this secluded island off the coast of Maine. She's the girlfriend of Jake and the sister of Benjamin, "the blind boy". She's the best friend to Nina, who happens to be the sister to Claire, who dates Benjamin. Claire used to date Lucas, Jake's enemy, but dumped him after an accident involving him, Claire, and Wade, Jake's brother who died in the accident. Confused yet? Heh. READ THE BOOKS!

Basically, this book is one where Zoey learns that she's growing up and can't depend on her lifelong habits. She's got to strike out on her own and do her own thing. Part of that means fooling around (making out) with Lucas. Then, she has to learn if she really loves Jake or Lucas. She has to listen to her heart...and not her head or her friends.

It's an amazing book and I recommend you check it, and all the other books out.

Summary: A teen who hates to read until...............
Review: Hey readers! I just read this book about a week ago and I couldn't put it down! I read it in 2 days! Now....I'm a teenager, the kind that thinks reading has to be the most boring thing ever! I used to hate reading until I found this book series! It's only been a month since I found the series and I'm on book #4! My Eniglish grade has even gone from a D+ to an A!! I'm not kidding! My parents are more surprised than I am! I recommed this book to teenagers......girls mostly since it's about love and all. It's made me cry in more than one book! If you've read the book e-mail me sometime (imsquirrley@aol.com)! I'd love to talk to someone about all the juicy stuff! Ok so about the book........The main character Zoey has this really sweet boyfriend, Jake! Well a few year back Jake's brother was killed when Wade (jake's brother), Claire, and Lucas were all drunk and Claire was driving! Wade died and Claire was hurt alittle, but Lucas was unharmed. since Lucas was at the time in love with Claire, he confessed that he was driving and was sent to a teen prison for two years, well, he comes back and Zoey falls for him.........You'll have to find out the rest in the 2nd book! That's the best part of the series! The author always, at the end of the books leaves you on a cliff hanger! It's the best!! Read the book! ~Ashley~

Summary: Great start to a great series
Review: Okay, okay, I know what you're thinking. The title of the series is Making Out. The title of the book is Zoey Fools Around. So right off the bat you're not expecting great literature. Which is good, because you shouldn't. But what you also shouldn't be expecting is sugary drivel akin to certain other teen romance books I've had the misfortune to come across.

(...)I came into this series expecting a guilty pleasure and came out with a bunch of books I genuinely enjoyed. Some parts still make me cry or laugh out loud, even though I've read them several times! And Applegate has wonderful descriptive talents. She really lets you savor the Maine backdrop while you read.

Do yourself a favor: read Making Out, and start (naturally) with Zoey Fools Around. Whether you consider it below your reading level, or you don't like reading at all, there's something in these books that every young adult can enjoy. The characters will stay with you for years, long after you've put the last book down.

Summary: A Waste of Paper
Review: Everyone who liked this book is going to hate me after they read my review, but I don't really care. So, go ahead, say this review wasn't helpful, I dont care. I just have to let all of my frustration out.

After I read this book, I cried. Not because it was overly good or anything like that, but for all of the trees that had to be cut down so that copies of this book could be printed. All of the characters were so shallow, it wasn't even funny. They were also so predictable. And, what was up with the plot? It was so stupid. It took me a week to finish this book. That shows how much I hated it, because it usually takes me 2 days the most to finish one book. I hated this book so much, that I'm thinking of ripping all of the pages out of it, and recycling them so the paper can at least have a chance to be used to something entertaining.

Summary: ................Right
Review: I hate to break all these sugar-coated reviews, but I guess I will. I thought that i would like it. I didnt. The characters annoyed me. It was sooooooooooooooooooooooooo boring. Anyway, the who deal about the car accident is totally dumb, I mean If the only survivor was the "driver" then wouldnt he have died? When I first read about that part, I was like 'Helloooooooooo, its obvious that he wasnt driving the car, because if he was, then he would have been the one killed. DUH!' Then it was so stupid how 'I dont smoke the cigarrette,I just like to hold it.' or 'I really like Lucas, And I dont like Jake anymore, like (twirls hair) what do I do?' Hum....I know I might not have graduated high school yet, but I say. BREAK UP W/ HIM! And, if you ever see this book, look at the cover, Zoey looks like shes high.

Summary: Zoey Fools Around is the beginning of a great book dynasty
Review: In the first book of the Making Out Series, you're introduced to the teenagers from a small Maine town. These teens have grown up together and are, for the most part, very close.

In this book, Zoey, who is dating Jake, kisses Lucas. (Lucas had been charged with drunk driving that ended up killing Jake's older brother.) This creates a big problem for Zoey who must choose between the "good guy" whom she is expected to be with forever or the "bad one" whom she is expected to avoid at all costs.

She might not have to tell as long as no one else finds out, but everyone at Chatham Island are bound to know because of blabbermouth, Claire.

The best two characters in this book, as in all of the books, are Nina and Ben. They add some needed comic relief.

I definitely think that if you like drama and romance, you'll love this. Also, if you like funny blind guys, you'll probably enjoy this. (You've gotta love Ben!)

Summary: Book #1 in the Boyfriends/Girlfriends (or Making Out) Series
Review: Two years after Wade McRoyan, Lucas Cabral, and Claire Geiger got in a car accident (in which Wade died and Lucas was convicted of vehicular manslaughter), Lucas has returned to Chatham Island, Maine, after spending time in a youth correctional facility. Most of his peers don't make it easy for him, especially Jake McRoyan, Wade's younger brother. He still blames Lucas for killing his brother (although it wasn't intentional), and he expects his other friends to feel the same way. And everyone does--except Zoey Passmore (Jake's girlfriend), who can't help but feel sorry for Lucas, while at the same time developing a mad crush on him.

I just started this series (either called Boyfriends and Girlfriends or Making Out, depending on which edition you're reading) and am fairly impressed with the first book so far. The whole Lucas-Zoey-Jake love triangle wasn't too terribly exciting--I mean, you pretty much know Zoey is going to fall for Lucas from the first chapter--, but, at least, it wasn't too cheesy either. The best part of the book, I thought, was the back story of the fatal car wreck. I wished that had been the main plot--there were enough details and twists to make this into a great teen thriller--, but I guess that's not the type of book/series this is. Too bad.

I did enjoy the occasional maps, journal entries, and lists from each character. And, at the end of "Zoey Fools Around", there's a short multiple choice quiz to test your long or short-term love IQ. I scored pretty poorly. Better luck next time, right?. :)

Recommended for 12+ year-old girls. Try the Sunset Island series by Cherie Bennett, as well as the Sweet Valley High: Senior Year series by Francine Pascal.
