Rating: Summary: ELEANOR'S STORY Review: This was one of those few books that I could not put down once I began reading it. This young girl experienced the horrors of war first hand and miraculously survived some harrowing close calls. Her strained relationship with her demanding and critical parents were tempered by her touching relationship with her older brother. Eleanor even talks about her budding sexuality from an innocent perspective. Even though this book documents a horrific event over 50 years ago it has many contemporary problems that young people face today in different parts of the world. I would definitely recommend this book for middle and high school students. Eleanor experienced a true life adventure few people would want to repeat. Excellent book!
