Rating: Summary: 5 stars and 2 thumbs up! Review: Excellent book! a great book with a great plot. This book about a teenager in the future with a lot on his mind. Imagine yourself in a life of virtual reality with no human life. Pretty interesting huh? Read it for yourself and discover the virtual world that lye's ahead!
Rating: Summary: Terrible! Review: From the begining this book was terrible, it didn't get going for 50 pages. It had a weak plot with weak characters. It was about a rebelious boy who is genetically engineered for lightning reflexs, and is a computer genius. He has been bestowed the duty of winning a cyber war. It is a corny fake plot and story line. Very unrealistic even for a Sci-Fi. Stay clear of this book! -Coleman Potter-
Rating: Summary: How did this end up in my high school library? Review: I did not like virtual war. Virtual War is 6th grade material all the way. Basically this is a simple science fiction novel with a simple plot that has been done before with boring, predictable characters. The story takes place in a world that has been contaminanted by nuclear disaster. In one of the last remaining bubble cities in the world. Inside the city a boy has been raised all his life in virtual reality to train for a virtual war. Near the start of the war the boy meets a his advisers. They show him what the world is like outside his virtual paradise. So the main character begins to question what he is fighting for. I give it 2 out of 5 stars because it is too simple to be in a high school library. Maybe in a elementary school. The actual war doesn't start untill the end of the book and is only a few chapters long.So for for pretty much the whole book no real action happens. And the character doesn't even really fight. He just controls soldiers with his finger. I only recommend it to people who need a quick read for a project or something because i fineshed it in about 2 hours.

Rating: Summary: Get Off your Computer and into this Book. Review: I have always been a net freak and hated to read. But when I started to read this book I couldn't put it down. This is not just a childrens book, but one for anybody who love computers and virtual reality.
Rating: Summary: So-So Review: I love science fiction, but Virtual War just isn't as good as most sci-fi books in my opinion. Some parts of it are so technical that's it's just hard to read. There is a lot of stalling in the book until the climax is reached at the very end. Until then, there is no basic plot. This boy is supposedly rebellious, but won't do anything about it. But this book does have interesting concepts. A childhood in a contained environment, with no human contact whatsoever. That's creepy. And it's interesting once he finally does "escape". But that only lasts for a couple hours, so I wouldn't call it much of an escape. I think if you're really into technical sci-fi, and you love virtual reality, then you might like this book.
Rating: Summary: A REALLY GOOD BOOK!!! Review: Imagine living your life in a place that is not real. Just think what it must be like to not even be real, but engineered. That is exactly the reality Corgan has to face in his life in the book Virtual War, written by Gloria Skurzynski. This book is a science fiction story for anyone who likes virtual reality. I know what you probably want me to do, tell more, but I am not going to. I am going to tell what I think the most effective part of this book was. The most catching and effective part of Virtual War is the title of the book, Virtual War. The title explains what the book is about in two simple words. In this book, the title is definitely the reason I picked it. Though does start off a little slow, it does gradually work itself into the story. Eventually the war does start, but a lot of the book is Corgan in the virtual world trying to escape, and the war starts when the programmers have finally had enough. Still, the book could have been named something else besides Virtual War I am sure. If there was one question I had to ask the author it would be "Why did you name this book Virtual War and not something else"? Oh and do not get me wrong, remember the title is the reason I picked the book, I am just curious in how she decided upon this name. One that I might choose for the title is, The Life of Corgan: Fourteen Years in a Virtual World. This might not be anyone else's first choice, but I think it gives an accurate hint on what this book is about. Who cares though? She named this book well, it is short and sweet. I also have to give her a tremendous amount of credit for this book, it was wonderfully written. This book, to me, is definitely the epitome of Science fiction books, it is the best book I have read in a long time. A suggestion though for next time Gloria, make a sequel. Wrapping up, once again the book was fabulous and please Gloria, MAKE A SEQUEL. Oh yes, I definitely give this book a five star rating on Amazon.com. Anyone who reads this response, I strongly suggest that you purchase this, this book is a great ride, and feel like your right there experiencing the what they are going through as well. Gloria Skurzynski is definitely going to go far if she keeps making books like this. A warning to readers of this book though. The part where Corgan is put in solitary confinement for his misbehavior is so vivid it will give you nightmares if you are afraid of confined spaces. Well, that is all I have to respond about on this particular book. Hope that I was helpful Amazon.com and good luck to the author with all of her book writing in the future.
Rating: Summary: This book is awesome! Review: It has a good plot and good characters. I highly recommend this book. This book paints a picture in my head. The part I liked best is when Corgan was fighting the war because it had lots of action and I could feel what he was going through.
Rating: Summary: Taking gaming to its fiercest and most logical conclusion Review: Many of my sci fi loving boys loved this book - couldn't put it down. Also, many of my "I don't like to read" boys. Girls liked it too, since there is also a strong female character. Takes X-box and other gaming to its fiercest and most logical conclusion.
